八斤所8Jin Café — Restaurant in Datong District

Surprised by this new find. A double espresso with 2 hrs of cooling period finally made my 41 degree Celsius afternoon an enjoyable one. The 2nd story has a charming space for more guests. It was not open at the time I visited. Check out my pix. Two minor complaints: I guessed that I' was still not able to get used to the open and loud conversational style from some of the local guests and the owners. Some Japanese tourists were able to carry a rather quite communication though. I finally decided to depart due to the 9 tiny mosquito bites by invisible creatures.. ;( I'd still recommend this coffee shop to anyone who is interested in exploring a different kind of deco...

Wasted opportunity... A nice building with lot of potential but they redecorated it with the mediocre wannabe old fake leather furniture. And plastic water bottles - they didn’t even take the time to get rid of the stickers...

The sandwich in the photo supposed to be pastrami! More lettuce then ham and it’s frozen... when I question the stuff they said it supposed to be like that 😒

Coffee is alright.

Oh and stuff.. you have to carry your glasses to your table... lol

So all in all I feel this could be a cool retro place with a bit...

Aged historical building turned into modern cafe. Used to be an old hospital. Now it's a nice cafe with quality coffee. The managing host is an energetic woman with style. Strong voice with nice attitude. Visitors are welcome to drop in for a look. Minimum charge is one drink. You can have some cozy time in this place after walking around the old Taipei town...
