Mask Cat Cafe — Restaurant in Datong District

The person who answered the phone and took our reservation sounded unfriendly and impatient so the first impression was already a negative but we decided to give it a try anyways.

No luck with the kitties; there appeared to be two and both were cozying up at another table.

Food looked sufficiently ok (appeared to be pre-made and microwave heated), desert (pie) was mediocre, nothing to write home about.

The girl who took our order seemed warm and pleasant but turned cold and rigid whilst at the register for some reason and she forgot that we asked to have the pie served only after food was finished.

The seating (sofa section, situated to the very back of the cafe) was too low to our liking, and not exactly cushiony.

Ambiance was cheerful but the lighting was insufficient.

The owner listed, on the menu, a long list of rules (quibbles) one must accept (but I guess you get to ignore them if you don't read Chinese). We did witness someone being asked to leave as he had already stayed and reached the time-limit (1.5 or 2 hours).

Most likely will not visit again as this cafe really is quite mediocre, not worthy of...

Huge Maggot in My Tea Today, 4/4/2018, I went to Mask Cats with a friend. We were excited to see cuddly cats and enjoy some afternoon tea. I ordered a rosemary, mint, and lavender hot tea the waitress recommended. However, when I received the tea, there was some kind of "maggot" or "worm" floating in my tea!! I was very confused and tried to ask my waitress what it was. She took my tea away, but returned with what looked like the very same tea pot! I tried to drink a little, but I was very uncomfortable. When I went to the counter they still made me pay the full $150 NTD for the tea. I did not receive an explanation, an apology, a discount, or refund for what was essentially a contaminated drink.

I should mention: I want to like Mask Cats. Everyone was very friendly, the vibe was relaxing, the decor was great, and the cats were adorable. I think the service was not good, and wish maybe in the future they would be more careful about serving drinks with bugs or other...

This cafe is so relaxing. In this cafe you can enjoy your time by playing with cats and eat your food. The Americano taste not the best but also not the worst americano i ever had. The expresso and latte, the expresso smell really good i think it robusta coffee seed that make it really biter and boost of caffeine, the latte also really good the milk cream is in the perfect texture. The Roasted chicken herb rice is average, they need to ad more seasoning at the rice (salt), the chicken is in the perfect seasoning. Overall, the service is good but I believe there is more area they can improve....
