My sister was sleeping in and I felt restless and decided to find a coffee place to go; the coffee at the hotel breakfast simply isn't good enough.
I Googled and found this place. When I entered, I saw a few groups of students studying and working on projects. I didn't have a reservation; the owner informed me that he had a seat but I had to vacate by 2.20pm (about 3h). This was fine since I was just waiting for my sister to get moving.
I ordered a 角咖啡 which is an espresso frozen into ice cubes and milk in a beaker separately. The look is amazing. The initial coffee taste isn't strong as is expected but there's something in Taiwan milk which is so yums. As the coffee cubes melted, the fragrance pulled through and was aromatic.
My parents got an espresso and latte. I tried the espresso which is robust and great. The coffee was not acidic but nutty.
For food I ordered the brownie and waffles. Note that as you walk in the fragrance of waffles will seduce you. The brownie is shaped as a rose and looks pretty. It is warmed. While the outside is crispy, the inside is melty and fudgey as a good brownie should be.
The waffles are served with honey. It was a bit disappointing. While the texture is similar to the brownie, there was nothing distinctive in the taste. In that light perhaps adding abit of salt to the batter or providing butter...
Read moreThis is such a cute cafe with relaxing ambience. It was quiet and slow in the best way possible. The space looks reclaimed and is well kept. They have a good sized menu with many drink and desert options. Everything we had was tasty! We tried the cheese cake and Grandma pudding in addition to our coffee. We went on a Saturday morning at 11:00, and they wouldn’t let us choose our seat because someone reserved the other tables for 1:00. So people seem to spend a lot of time here, and I can see why. Consider making a reservation maybe. A bit tricky to spot from the outside, but just follow the stairs up. Edit: we’ve been back a few times. Everything continues to be excellent. I wanted to add that if you order tea, they will refill the pot and start the leaf process for you when you finish it. Also. They have the best lemon tart I’ve...
Read moreI originally ordered a blueberry tart but the staff later told me it was sold out. Changed the order to chocolate tart, the staff told me would be better to eat it after some time cuz it's frozen. More than 30 minutes later it was still stone-hard, practically unedible. Can't believe I had to pay 160NTD to have a completely-unedible tart. Had to break down the cake with my fork, definitely an unhappy desert experience. If you have to serve a frozen tart (I don't like this part either tho... I could buy one easily half the price at Costco why go to a cafe and order one?) could you not unfreeze it and serve it? The atmosphere was chill, nice place to work or have a convo with your friend, still, never order a...
