After 8 months being in Taiwan, we finally made our revisit trip to Jiufen. The weather was really hot but inside Jiufen old street was relatively cooling which was pleasant. We stopped by this shop after lunch for a cooking dessert. The place was easy to find as it has a striking orange signboard. We ordered 3 bowls. Each bowl came with 5 types of taro balls, red and mung beans. Ice were added for a refreshing taste and you can add more ice if you find it too sweet which I did. The taro balls were chewy and soft. We loved it very much and purchased 2 more packs home to cook. Each pack cost NTD90. You can select from 2 to 5 types of taro balls. For eat in, each bowl cost NTD50. Standard price for these dessert. Overall,...

These bowls of taro balls are among the most popular snacks in Jiufen. They’re served either hot or cold, and filled with chewy handmade taro balls, sweet potato balls, green tea balls, and kidney beans.

There are many stalls offering taro balls along Jiufen Old Street, but none more popular than Grandma Lai’s Taro Balls. You’ll recognize it from the long line of people waiting to have their taro ball soup.

The balls and soup was very refreshing and has a very light sweet taste. You’ll understand that some may not like it because they’re expecting a sweeter flavor.

The mother of taro balls in Jiufeng or maybe in Taiwan. When I told my friend that I'm going to JiuFeng then everyone was telling me you must try the taro balls there. Hence here am I

Now it is the 4th generation doing the business and it is one of the signature landmark in JiuFeng. If you wish to know more you can come and visit, they have the story on the wall or you can see the picture I have uploaded.

The taro balls aren't expensive, but for me I personally love the red beans more than the taro balls

Overall, it is one of the must try foods in JiuFeng, after all it is a dessert, whose stomach doesn't have space...
