🍢🍻 Visiting Taichung, I discovered 客烧IZAKAYA, a gem for Japanese Izakaya cuisine and a haven for beer enthusiasts. 📞 A last-minute call was met with the utmost courtesy, securing us seats amidst their bustling ambiance. Upon arrival, the staff welcomed us with grace, despite the crowd.

My eyes were drawn to a detailed photo depicting chicken cuts, a promise of culinary expertise. 🐔 It was a sign - this place was destined to serve top-tier chicken yakitori. Without hesitation, I ordered the entire selection. Each skewer was a masterpiece, the chicken succulent, perfectly cooked, and devoid of any off-putting aroma.

I had high expectations for this place, and was quite disappointed with several of the dishes. The raw beef was served with plenty of finely sliced scallions and a delightfully runny egg but the beef was still frozen, quite tough to chew, and included several very fatty slices. Also the pork-wrapped pepper/mushroom skewers were bland and flavorless and not enjoyable. The onion salad was fantastic and so was the mountain yam but the chicken soft bones were again flavorless and uninteresting. Compared with other Japanese grill places in Taichung, this shop is not among the better ones yet. Hopefully they can improve the quality and execution of the dishes, and I may try them again...

for me growing up in NYC eating a plate of raw cabbage is weird but that’s what they offer once you sit down! for people with birthdays, they offer a plate of raw sliced beef with a poached egg on top. portions are extremely small! you would think you’re at a upscale french fine dining restaurant. so when ordering if you’re a party of 2+ order 2 or more of each item. would offer more stars if price of items, were bang for your buck. picture of fried chicken is free if you give them 5 stars on google.
