· they are known for their braised pork rice thats located right in front of Taichung Second Market entrance
· one small bowl was about 70 NTD as of May 2025
· asked for lean meat = still got a fatty one? (dont think they care at this point)
· you have to clean up after yourself (no service provided)
· they never wipe down the tables here (its incredibly dirty with oil + leftovers from others)
· miso soup tasted terrible (the tofu was overcooked)
tldr: there are plenty of other local cuisine options to choose from...

The tofu and summer ma xi soup didn’t really do it for me though. The tofu was quite bland, and the soup (which I heard is a Taichung specialty) was bitter and slimy, so I couldn’t really appreciate it. The pork leg, on the other hand, was the highlight. The fat melts in your mouth and the meat give a little bite, giving you a pretty darn close to a perfect spoon.
The LRF was quite good too but that beautiful pork belly just blew my mind. Get that set for a myriad of side dishes and soup for a complete meal that fills your heart and tummy.
