珍珠奶茶 Signature Bubble Tea (Cold, Medium, No Ice, No Sugar) = TWD170 功夫面 Kungfu Noodles = TWD100 金萱巴西蘑菇鸡汤 Brazilian Mushroom Chicken Soup with Jin-Xuan Oolong Tea = TWD165

Service Charge = TWD40

This Restaurant is supposedly the Actual ORIGINAL Location where Bubble Tea was First Created. It is a Full Service Dine-In Restaurant located in a Fairly Quiet Neighbourhood.

The Staffs are Very Polite, Professional and Friendly as you'd expect from a Atas Level Chinese Restaurant like this.

Due to Text Limit Constraints, I won't go into details describing every Dish here. If you are interested to know more, come visit my Facebook Food Blog: "A Solo Singaporean's Guide to JB Foods (And More!)" to view the Full Review with Photos.

Conclusion and Closing Thoughts

At TWD170 (S$6.90) for this Large 500ml+ Mug of 珍珠奶茶 with No Ice, I think this is More Expensive than an Average Cup sold in Singapore?

Having said that, this is (One of) the ORIGINAL Inventor of Bubble Tea, and the Actual Restaurant itself is Atas Level. Not some Small Dinky BBT Shop in a Shopping Mall, so I feel the Slightly Higher Price is Justifiable. It is a Special Feeling after all to be drinking BBT at (One of) the Actual Original Place where BBT itself is invented.

Coming from the Viewpoint of someone who don't drink BBT often, I feel it is better to have Realistic Expectations. Do not expect to be Mind Blown by how this tastes. Because at the End of the Day, it still has a Familiar Main Taste Profile that you would expect from a Regular 珍珠奶茶.

At TWD100 (S$4.10) is worth the Price for the Kungfu Noodles. This tastes like a More Epic Level of Singapore Bak Chor Mee, that is Amusingly Slightly more Affordable than Singapore Bak Chor Mee with Today's Prices. If you like eating BCM, I feel you will also enjoy this.

At TWD165 (S$6.70) for this Bowl of Atas Chicken Soup is Expensive, but I feel the Quality is Worth It. The Ingredients tastes Premium, especially the Very Robust Earthy Mushroom. This Soup does not feel Cheaply Made. From a Culinary Viewpoint, I feel this Dish 吃得出来 there are alot of Care and Effort being put into this. This is not something you can Replicate Easily at Home.

Everything from the Dishes to the Service Level Truly Impressed me. This Place truly befits its Legendary Name as (One of) the Original Inventor of Bubble Tea. I have Absolutely No Issues giving this Place my Highest Top Score. Especially if you are a Bubble Tea Fan, this should definitely be on your Travel Iteinary if you're here in Taichung! Hahaha Don't Forget to Request to be seated at their Special Basement Level!

Being in the Presence in the Very Place where Bubble Tea is Born is a Special Feeling that you must Definitely Experience at least once especially if you're a Bubble Tea Fan!

We ordered 3 drinks. Regular boba milk tea, brown sugar milk tea, and wheat germ milk tea. I didn't specify the sugar and ice levels to taste how the drinks were made originally. I'd say that everything tastes good! My favorite would be the brown sugar milk tea though. Every boba milk tea has got a foam on top, no flavour just adds the creaminess. The boba are very chewy too! Not the type that you have to bite for too long, and not the "half cooked" one too! The size of the boba was not too big and not too small. Just perfect, except for the price haha. It's a little pricey for a glass of milk tea, but I guess I can't complain since it is "the first boba milk tea" store.

Regular boba milk tea: 3/5 ⭐ Size: Medium Price: 170 NTD A bit basic, not too sweet.

Wheat germ milk tea: 4/5 ⭐ Size: Medium Price: 170 NTD Ordered this because I think the name's interesting. They came with the "wheat" flakes on top of the cream and milk tea. You gotta mix it first. No boba for this one. The milk tea tastes the same as the basic boba milk tea, the only difference is that you drink this with wheat flakes. Then again, drinking this doesn't make you feel like you're bored with the flavor too much.

Brown sugar boba milk tea: 5/5 ⭐ Size: Medium Price: 200 NTD Though my friend is the one who actually ordered this, I think this is the best one. The cream, the brown sugar, and the boba has perfect balance of flavour. Everything is mixed well together. Sweeter than the original milk tea, and I think it's enjoyable to drink (I like drinks that are a bit sweeter). Though, if you don't really like something that's not too sweet, but still wanna try this one, you can try the smaller glass or the wheat germ milk tea.

The employees were so nice, atmosphere was also great to hangout and talk to your friends too! They gave us 2 hours to stay there (so the place wouldn't be too crowded). The place is pretty for you to take pictures here too! (And of course a plus point for free wifi!). Didn't get to try the food right now, but would...

The food was pretty good. We had the following (cant remember the exact names):

Dumplings in chili sauce - very flavorful and the spiciness didnt overpower the taste

Vermicelli noodles in scallion/ginger sauce - this was so-so, it’s misua covered in ginger-scallion oil with veggies on the side

Original bubble tea - compared to milkteas you can typically find in Ximending, their had more floral notes but was very light. Was hoping to have a stronger tea taste. A little underwhelming for the first bubble tea in taiwan

Black tea - very full bodied and refreshing

❌ But I’m sorry, service was very bad. Our group was told by the guy who was manning the door that if we wanted to sit outside, we had to wait 40mins. So I queued and said we would take the outdoor seats. There was a vacant table but still was told 40mins. Mere minutes after that (and while I was still on queue hence hearing this) a group of young, local women were told the same thing 40mins to queue inside seats (she then said in english that it sucks that they had to wait), but they further spoke in the local language so I didnt understand what happened next but they were escorted to the seats.

I asked several times since I have elderly parents who could benefit from the AC in the middle of the afternoon sun. But it is what it is. We still stayed and ate our food—with which they had a minimum order by the way. We were there less than 30mins minus the waiting time because the guy was also staring us down almost feeling like he wanted us gone. As foreigners, it was good that we had the experience but never coming back bec of...

As foreigners, it was good that we had the experience but never coming back bec of the service.
