I recently had the pleasure of visiting Bar Home in Tainan, and it was an exceptional experience that deserves a five-star review.
Ambiance and Decor: Bar Home captivates with its unique Victorian-inspired interior, featuring bright turquoise walls, fringed scarlet drapes, and dark, highly-polished wood furnishings. This distinctive design creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for both intimate gatherings and lively socializing.
Cocktail Selection and Quality: The cocktail menu is both extensive and thoughtfully curated, offering a blend of classic favorites and innovative creations. Each drink is meticulously crafted with high-quality ingredients, resulting in well-balanced and flavorful concoctions. Notably, the “Guatemala” cocktail, which combines aged rum, scotch, dark chocolate, sweet vermouth, and cold-brew coffee, stands out as a testament to the bartenders’ creativity and skill.
Service: The staff at Bar Home are attentive, knowledgeable, and fluent in English, ensuring that guests feel welcome and well-cared-for throughout their visit. Their expertise in mixology is evident, and they are more than willing to provide personalized recommendations based on individual preferences.
Location: Situated in Tainan’s West Central District, Bar Home is conveniently located and easily accessible. The entrance, marked by galvanized metal gates leading through a courtyard into a charming house, adds an element of intrigue and exclusivity to the experience.
Overall Experience: Bar Home seamlessly combines exceptional cocktails, a distinctive ambiance, and top-notch service, making it a must-visit destination for both locals and visitors in Tainan. I highly recommend Bar Home and look forward to returning to explore more of their inventive...

I came here on the recommendation of the owner of another cocktail bar in Tainan. There weren't any seats available when I walked in so I was added to the queue and they were accommodating about the time of my arrival.
It took around 30 minutes for my drink to be made. While drinks should never be rushed, this is just too long a wait. Making matters worse was that after waiting all that time, the flavor of drink itself was totally forgettable. What was memorable was the piece of toast and cheese they put on top of the glass. I'm a pretty straightforward cocktail person but not opposed to creativity. That said, my opinion is that a cocktail shouldn't need a built in food pairing.
There is a $700 pp drink minimum. This basically amounts to 2 drinks. By the time I got my first drink, it was last call and the host came by reminding me that I needed to purchase another drink. I didn't want to spend the rest of my evening here so I offered to pay the $700 for the one drink. It was pretty obvious I was disappointed but surprisingly, the host refused my offer and only charged me for the one drink, which is why I am giving 4 stars.
I won't visit this establishment again, but everyone has different tastes and I appreciate this establishment being...
Read moreGo for libation. Stay for the atmosphere. Run away from the smell. Stunning space that showcases the owner's impeccable taste. (The light fixtures are especially impressive.) The drinks skew a bit on the sweet and/or sour. I'd like to check out their ability to serve classics if I go back again. The ONLY complaint I have is the almost offensive fragrance they use not sure if it's incense or candle. It was so overpowering that when we went to a store close by we were asked if we just came from Bar Home, because we "smelled like it." Truth be told, I almost had headache from the smell and could not really enjoy fully the beautiful cocktail the mixologist concocted. I am not sure what smell they were trying to cover up, but they should definitely re-evaluate how they are using fragrance for the space. Especially because they are trying to please the senses involving...
