Decent place for basic Taiwanese dessert

We stopped going for a few years because they were aggressive to the point of almost being physical in trying to get customers into their store.

We tried it again, and food-wise, they have dropped a few notches. The one thing they had that differentiated them before it became common was 包心, tapioca ball with a red bean inside. Their business was so good, it looked like they can barely make it fast enough. Their business must’ve dropped tremendously, as evident by how many seats were available. In the past, one could barely squeeze in, so finding a seat was a struggle. In the past.

We had no problem with seating today, and some dude planted next to us just waiting for us to put in our order. Bit annoying really.

三兄妹 has all manners of fluffy snow. In the past these were always delicious. And may still be, but I didn’t see anyone having it.

The basics that we ordered were 豆花十包心十芋圓 and 豆花十花生十仙草. That’s one tofu dessert with red bean tapioca and taro ball and another with peanuts and grass jelly. It was refreshing and good, except for the red bean tapioca which didn’t have as much flavor as I remembered and was kind of hard, like it was leftover from yesterday.

Overall, not wonderful, but not bad and for about NTD 130 total.

If you are tired and need a place to rest, this can be a good place to rest. Lot of additional seating downstairs, but can be stuffy...

. Our family of eight is currently traveling in Taiwan, and on the evening of December 14, 2023, around 21:39, we visited Ximending in Taipei. We went to the San-Xiong-Di (Three Brothers) 三兄妹main store for shaved ice. Since we were already full, we ordered only three bowls with the intention of sharing. Later, we asked my niece to request two additional bowls. However, the elderly gentleman at the establishment, presumably the owner, rudely slammed the three bowls on the table and refused to provide more. My niece returned upset, and as tourists, we were shocked by the impolite treatment. I approached the owner, expressing my disappointment and reminding him that Taiwan is a tourist-friendly country, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a positive image for tourism. He immediately apologized, and we accepted. However, two male employees, likely his children, took aggressive actions, attempting to physically harm one of our family members. This drew attention from onlookers, and the situation was eventually diffused by the arrival of the police, who treated it as a misunderstanding. During this incident, a female employee made a troubling comment, suggesting that as a family, we should share food and saliva. She claimed that this is how Taiwanese people behave. We are deeply disappointed by the treatment we received at this establishment, and it has negatively impacted our perception of Taiwan as a tourist destination. We visited this famous mango snowflake ice spot as our fourth foodie stop during our Taipei weekend trip! 🍧🍴 After dinner, we grabbed our umbrellas and headed out together as a family of four. We ordered two mango bingsoos and finished them in no time—the ice was so smooth, cool, and sweet, it was pure happiness in every bite! 🥭😋

We loved it so much, we went back again the next day to try both the mango and the strawberry bingsoo. Enjoying them back at the hotel was just as delicious as our first experience. 🍓✨

In the steamy heat of July, this dessert was the perfect way to refresh and reset after a big meal. Just a few bites instantly cooled us down and gave us the energy to continue our food adventure around Taipei! ☀️❄️
