Finally unlocked the solo omakase experience. Came here on a weekday lunch ($2200, but you have to ask for it otherwise they only offer $3800 or $6000).
FOOD I’m not usually a scallop fan but this was the BEST scallop I’ve ever had! Apparently it took a flight from Hokkaido, alive. There’s a slight crunch to it. The uni was served like a little ice cream cone and oh gosh, they sourced from Sapporo, where they mainly feed on kelp, hence why it’s sooooo sweet. Truly, so good. Overall excellent, really, the sushi rice was also seasoned perfectly with a bit of soy sauce. Only things I didn’t really like are the squid and one of the snapper (they served two- the red eye one was really good). These are personal preferences. Even the two hot soups impressed me. The first one was a fishball, melty and soft, and they didn’t add any additives! The closing miso was made with bone broth and collagen from the pork, and it really stood out from all the miso soups I’ve had before. Oh, also, what $2200 set do you get both Otoro and Chutoro, executed to perfection?! The size was great, the amount of char was just right for cutting the fattiness without sacrificing on the rich taste. Also a few of the nigiri’s they served with different slicing technique, such a small detail but it helped change things up for me every few bites. Love that!
SERVICE Dining alone, my biggest fear was the awkwardness. And lo and behold, I was the ONLY one the chef was serving, cue awkwardness once more. But never did I feel uncomfortable. The chef didn’t ask why I was dining alone (and I didn’t want to answer, just felt like it lol), but he was all smiles and open to chat if I had questions. I had a great time not talking much, just enjoying the food. My water and tea were constantly refilled. It didn’t feel like someone was watching over my shoulders, but the server was definitely keeping an eye from afar, and I appreciated that.
They have private rooms for groups. Will definitely be back again. Thank you Nikai for the...

It is a great value for your money! 9 seater at the bar and a few private rooms. Would highly recommend sitting in front of Master Iwaki 岩城師傅 and get a chance to speak with him as he is fluent in mandarin! I’m looking forward to visiting again before the...
