the food quality varies wildly depending on what you get. beware the Bakar (烤魚) because that fish has way too many bones which makes the eating experience unpleasant; the noodle dishes can be pretty salty; avoid the Siomay Batagor (炸燒賣) because it was just fried batter/skin with no shaomai to be found whatsoever; and do NOT get the Happy Soda (泡泡喜樂) or the Ice Syrup (香蘭冰水) which both taste like liquid candy because they reek of vile artificial flavors.
other than those, i think the food’s decently good. i suspect that the high rating of this restaurant is due to the large portions for low prices, and Taiwanese people seem to hail CP value above all else.
i, however, can’t overlook the terribly crowded seating conditions. i understand that they’re working with limited space, but that doesn’t make it any more pleasant squeezing through between people to get water or napkins or place your order. woe to anyone who’s obese because you’re definitely not going to be able to get to your seat when the place is full.
edit in response to owner’s reply: i challenge anyone to drink either of those two beverages and tell me there’s nothing artificial in flavor or color about them. the Ice Syrup straight up tastes like pink bubblegum. i’d love to know what Chandu claims those drinks are made of because there is nothing remotely natural about their...
Read moreOne of the best Indonesian restaurant in Taipei. So flavourful and delicious. I have visited them thrice and have tasted some of their menus. I’ve tried their Pempek, Pisang Goreng, Sate Ayam, Nasi Rendang, and of course Nasi Goreng! Among these menus my favorite is Nasi Rendang.
In terms of price these menus price were started from around 100NTD to around 250NTD. Aside of the food, two things I like from Chandu are (1) They provides bidet inside their restroom (something I was looking for!!), (2) They play Indonesian song so you can sing a long while having a great food.
All in all they were providing such a great service. Keep it up, Chandu! Looking forward to visit their restaurant again if someday I got a chance to...
Read moreChandu Indonesian Restaurant offers an exceptional culinary experience, highlighted by the Rendang Sapi, which features tender beef reminiscent of Kerala coconut wedding beef curry. The beef is slow-cooked in a rich, aromatic blend of spices and coconut milk, delivering a perfect balance of heat and flavor. The Banana Fritters, golden and crispy on the outside with a sweet, soft center, provide a delightful contrast when paired with a drizzle of honey. Complemented by the robust and earthy notes of Indonesian Black Tea, each dish is a testament to the restaurant's dedication to authentic Indonesian cuisine. With its flavorful offerings, warm ambiance, and attentive service, Chandu is a must-visit...
