Great food, fantastic view, top notch service, and a comfortably relaxed environment to enjoy a yakiniku dinner, all at a very reasonable price for Taipei.
Menu design was confusing, but the wait staff provided good explanation. Meat was presented beautifully, and prepared expertly by the wait staff. You CAN grill for yourself if you insist, but definitely not recommended unless you are also a professional in wagyu grilling.
Deducting 1 star for the following reasons. We were the first table of guests for dinner tonight. Upon seating by the window side, we noticed that the side panel was uncleaned, scattered with food and paper debris (See photo). That was an unfortunate first impression.
The dining area is very clean overall, but two hours into dinner service, the two small restrooms were filthy and unusable. This was very disappointing for a restaurant of this caliber.
Overall, considering food quality, service, the chill ambiance, and the price point, this has to be one of the top three Yakiniku places in Taipei, and that is why it has been so hard to get a reservation ever since its opening. I look forward to giving it the fifth star the next time we...
Read moreYakiniku Zonzen was one of our most anticipated meals during the trip, especially since we made reservations. Unfortunately, despite arriving on time, we had to wait because the previous guests were still dining. It was a bit disappointing, but they made up for it by offering a free drink and a small discount at the end of the meal.
We ordered the set meal for 3, and the portions were huge—probably too much for us. The beef was incredibly fresh and delicious, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. However, the pork wasn’t as memorable. It was fine, but after such exceptional beef, it felt underwhelming. There was chicken included too, but we were so full by then that we had to skip the last chicken dish. The deep-fried chicken and fries were heavily battered, which didn’t stand out much either.
Dessert included ice cream and kouign amann, which were nice finishes to the meal. The service was excellent, and the staff were very friendly. The place was clearly popular, but despite the good experience, I don’t...
Read moreGreat yakiniku option near Taipei 101. We chose OHIME set, which is pretty good for its pricing. The server grilled it for us so it make sure the doneness is perfect. It’s basically a reservation only system. You only got walk-in if anyone cancel their reservation. So better reserve beforehand.
—- Visited again after a year. Chose the Ohime set again. Notice a few more things: It’s gas instead of charcoal in other more higher end places. The meat seems a bit on the under-seasoning side. Beefs are all good, but I don’t really like the chicken neck meat. It tastes a bit “powdery” rather than tender. The thick cut beef tongue and oyster blade steak is a bit on the undercooked side. Especially the oyster blade.
It’s still pretty good for the price. Will come back if we can find a convenient...
