Finally! a pizza that deserves to cross the city to be enjoyed: Andrea uses Italian organic flour milled by stone, not white flour, which means a lot healthier than any other traditional Neapolitan pizza you can try in Taiwan, whose are made with white refined flour; tomato sauce from fresh tomatoes and artisans mozzarella fiordilatte. This for ingredients. Rising: biga prepared the day before, that allows Andrea to decrease dramatically the amount of yeast needed, making the pizza digestible by people with low tolerance to yeast. Pizza starts from 420$ which I consider cheap for the quality delivered. If u love pizza cannot miss this place!
Read moreWhat i liked Pizzas are very close to the Italian style. You can feel the owner puts efforts and care in each single pizza he makes and the ingredients are of good quality. Homemade cakes are good as well and the espresso is one of the few ones in Taipei that doesn't smell and taste like burned coffee (very few places in Taipei can serve a proper espresso) The place is small but designed with a certain taste. Squeak clean. What can be improved Prize and size of pizzas: The pizza is a bit too small for the price and a bit too expensive for Taipei (I am pretty sure the choice of high quality ingredients plays a role). I'd like for the pizza to be a bit bigger and the filling a bit richer. The fact that the place is too small doesn't allow for privacy. Essentially i could only eat quick and leave because i couldn't talk about anything with my partner due to the fact all customers sit around the same table for 8 people. So it's not the place you want to be if you want to have a talk and spend time with friends. But it fits if you want to have a quick snack or for take away service (they seem to have a take away service).
Overall an interesting place...
Read moreIf you're looking for amazing, freshly-baked pizza in Taipei without the typical Taiwanese flavors (you know what this is), Andrea's is where you wanna go. But fair warning- they don't accept reservations when I inquired via FB, but they asked how many pizza dough they needed to set aside to for the night. Very weird but you can tell they needed to prep the super special crust, which tasted like a light sourdough-type bread that absorbed all the flavors beautifully.
The pizza and other dishes were made fresh and on the spot by the owners, making it feel like a semi private dining experience. My favorite was the Say Cheese pizza followed by the anchovies and capers one. If the burratta salad is available- my all means, indulge. A bit pricey but YOLO haha
Slight cons- they don't serve water and the place might be a big hard to find, we couldn't remember seeing...
