This is another relic that seemed to be falling behind in time. An old restaurant with Michelin starred Peking Duck that caters to the older generation of Taipei residents. My brother loved this place’s duck and insisted that I try them. Since I am not accustomed to Taiwan styled Peking Duck, I wasn’t too excited. The duck itself was average, but huge, and probably deserved a 4-5* in Taiwan, but in Beijing, this would be a 2* (sorry for being so harsh). The skin was way too tough and the meat was sliced way too thick. The crepe was very thick and hard. Of course, this may be the preferred taste here in Taiwan, but for me I will pass on it. It’s braised wheat gluten烤麩was pretty bad, so avoid that item all together.
The duck bone soup was really good, though, as well as its vegetable dishes. The service was friendly and decent. The dinning area has seen better days back in 1985.
The location was good, only a few steps from the Nanking-Fushing Metro station. It’s located on the second floor, so keep your eyes...

In the Songshan district, it is hard to spot from the main road, find it on google maps and make your way to the second floor. There were only two of us and we ordered the whole duck. Way too much for two people. You can use the bones and they can make you soup or other ingredients. The owner is third generation and brings in ducks from Yilan. They’re kept 100 days longer to become extra fatty. The chef brings it to your table and cuts it in front of you. Crispy skin and carved into 36 pieces, served with green onion and hoi-sin. The staff were friendly and the décor of the place looks pretty old school. The whole duck set us...
Read moreWe were visiting Taipei from the U.S. and decided to dine at this restaurant because of their roast duck. We made a reservation two days in advance and specifically pre-ordered the roast duck. On the day of our reservation, we encountered traffic and arrived just five minutes late. To our shock, the staff informed us that they had already given our pre-ordered duck to another customer to take away!
I’m speechless. We were just five minutes late – could they not have called us to check before giving away the dish we reserved? This kind of treatment is unacceptable, and it completely ruined our dining experience. If they can’t honor a simple reservation, I wouldn’t trust them to provide reliable service. Very...
