First of all, MAYBE someone will find this hostel is ok...
I think am fooled with all of these positive reviews, and that's why...
Well.. I never wrote reviews before but after this hostel I can't be silent. I have photos and videos if someone is interested in.
I've stayed at OH Bangkok Hostel for only 2 nights. Usually I book a hostel for a couple days to see if it's ok, and i can stay for longer. But after second night spent there I was ready to run from that place.
Personnel. It's ok. They was not rude. During check in they briefly described where is my bed and restroom.
AC in bedrooms. They turn it on from 4pm till 11am. I have no idea what are they thinking about. When after long flight, experiencing jetlag, tourist come to their hostel and wants to sleep. Well.. sleep. Sleep and sweat, sweat and sleep.
There is a room with beds on the second floor and restrooms on third floor. And all of drain pipes are going under the ceiling of room with beds. That pipes going over your heads. Keep reading, the most disgusting ahead.
I've was sleeping on the upper bed #9, and RIGHT OVER YOU HEAD in 8in. (20cm) comes the draining pipe from toilet and I SWEAR!!! You will hear every drop of urine eye someone is pissing. Right on (over) your head, I'm not joking!!!
The first thought was "oh god, dont let me piss in my bed at night during sleep" (yeah, at that moment I was thinking that I will be able to sleep) cuz u hear gurgling when someone flushers water, taking a shower, washing hands. By the way, often flush button gets stuck and you will hear that sounds endless. You can hear it from every bed in that room.
Next. Both days there was no toilet paper. During check in there was no information that I need to use my hand for that (now it's a joke) On second day miracle happened and I found another one toilet with paper on first floor.
Both of this I almost can't get a sleep cuz there was some kind of party in lobby or living room (call it how u like more). Ablosutely disrespectful guests were singing SOOo LOUD, YELLING, CLAPPING their hands. They STARTED doing this approximately at 3am and was hanging out till 5-6am. Btw there is a written rule in this hostel that u should keep your voice down after 11p.m. And personell have heard this and did nothing.
I'm sad that I've got to this place, and it was my first experience in Thailand, Bangkok. It's a shame...
I hope o didn't forget anything...
Oh. Breakfast is free. But You need...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUpdate: the business response below is all lies. 1) When booking through Agoda, there is literally no notice of the cash only deposit anywhere on their page or any of the accommodation listings. I have screenshots to prove this; 2) The first thing I did was contact the hostel directly and asked for a refund which they declined. Then I contacted Agoda and Agoda reached out to them and they rebuffed Agoda. Finally, having all the evidence needed, I filed a dispute with my credit card company. There are no other āproper channelsā than what I did. I sent nothing discriminatory. When they demanded a cash deposit despite not having mentioned it before, I held them accountable by calling out their shady business practices.
I donāt recommend anyone to stay at this place. There are many other hostels with staff that are much more professional and friendly. I booked a 4-night stay through Agoda here about 36 hours before my check in date. A few hours after I made my payment in full with my credit card, the hostel messaged me directly and demanded additional money from me in cash only for a ādeposit.ā I immediately responded and told them I didnāt have that much cash and didnāt plan on having any by the day of check in. A reasonable company wouldāve either cancelled my booking at no charge or offered to move my reservation date or even waive the deposit. Instead, this place again demanded cash and said if I didnāt pay the cash deposit, they wouldnāt let me check in and would put me down as a āno showā so they could keep 100% of my reservation fee. They never notified before the booking that they would ask for cash only deposits yet they refused a refund despite the check in time being 24 hours in advance. These people have displayed the demeanor of scammers and openly employ deceptive business practices. I can only imagine what be condition of the facility is and how else they seek to rob tourists. One of the local working girls informed me that they enjoy staying at places like this because the deposit policy is good for them like a bank because they can also exchange their passport to get the money back and vice versa. Yet the staff here was rude and didnāt even offer this which is clearly discriminatory against tourists. Book here at...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood Atmosphere, But Needs a Bit More Organisation.
I recently stayed at OH Bangkok Hostel, and overall, it was a solid experience. The hostel has a friendly, welcoming vibe with lots of social opportunities, especially for backpackers. The peopleāboth staff and guestsāare incredibly friendly, and it's easy to meet new people. I really enjoyed hanging out there. The lack of organisation might be due to the fact that there are a few backpacker volunteers.
They offer a variety of activities every day, but some of them could use a bit more organisation. For example, the drinking night started a bit slow. Not many people were engaging at first, and there was a lot of running around between games. However, as the night went on, it really picked up, and it turned into a blast, especially the dancing at the bars. Similarly, the movie night had some issues with the connection when they tried to start the movie. After some struggles, I ended up offering some movies from my USB, but due to bad downloads it froze in the middle of the movie. We then switched back to the original idea and once we managed to get it going, the movie night turned out fine, and we enjoyed it in the end.
We also took part in their new bike tour, which turned out to be more of a sightseeing tour rather than a deep dive into the city's history. The guide was friendly and gave us some great tips on places to visit and where to eat. However, since they were a volunteer, their knowledge about the temples and other key spots was a bit limited. It was still a nice way to see the city, and I hope the tour will develop more as time goes on.
In terms of breakfast, there are no vegetarian options, but the staff were very accommodating. I asked if I could swap the sausage for an extra egg, and they were happy to accommodate that request.
The hostel itself has good rooms and showers, and itās reasonably priced. For those who are interested, they also offer affordable weed, which is a nice bonus if you're into that.
In summary, OH Bangkok Hostel has a great atmosphere, friendly people, and lots of potential. The organisation could be improved, but itās still a good place to stay, especially if you enjoy a social...
