I stayed at 4 Monkeys hotel for 22 nights, yes that's right 22 nights. So I think I've seen everything that this place has to offer and interacted with nearly every single staff member there.
First of all the hotel is located in a great location, it's in walking distance from Rambuttri Alley (great to eat, drink and relax) and Khaosan road (great to go party), it's in walking distance of several Temples worth visiting and in driving distance from the Chatuchak weekend market, Siam Paragon (a high end shopping mall) which has Sea World inside and a huge food court, it's also in driving distance of several other shopping malls, more Temples and worthwhile spots to go visit.
The hotel has a rooftop bar that's relaxed to sit on in the evening with a view on the Rama VIII bridge. There is room service available, you can eat and drink across the street at Samsen Street Hotel (owned by the same owners) and use the pool there as well.
But what was by far the best I ever encountered in any hotel in Bangkok and even around the world is the staff that works there. I felt immediately at home there thanks to the staff, they are very friendly, helpful and excited to do their job. I'm learning how to speak Thai and once they knew they even tried to help me and teach me more. I had many good talks with them when I was eating or drinking like I never experienced before from any hotel staff. The manager (Wanchai) is great in telling you what you can go visit during your stay and to have a conversation with, one of the waitresses (Tay) helped me with anything I asked and was lovely to talk to, one of the security (Parn) was great at his job and when he spotted me in his non-working hours even showed me directions to anywhere I wanted to go.
So in conclusion: if you're looking for a great hotel to stay in Bangkok in this price range I highly recommend it or if you're looking for one in a higher price range I highly recommend The Samsen Street hotel (across the street).
A special thanks to Wanchai, Tay, Parn and until...
