I recently had the pleasure of discovering The Island Restaurant near my hostel in Bangkok, and I have to say, it was an experience that left me truly impressed. It all started when I was casually checking out the menu outside the restaurant, and the staff, with their warm and welcoming gestures, called us inside. We decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad we did.
Ambience: The restaurant’s ambience is a standout feature. From the moment you step inside, you are greeted by an atmosphere that exudes calmness and aesthetic appeal. The design is minimalistic yet incredibly beautiful, creating a space that feels both cozy and inviting. There are swing seats, comfy sofas, and standard chairs, so you can pick your preferred seating style. With three floors available, the restaurant has a spacious vibe, and it’s easy to find a corner where you can relax and enjoy your meal. Dim lighting paired with the soft sounds in the background makes for a wonderfully peaceful dining experience. The tables are surrounded by small trees, giving the space a fresh and slightly whimsical touch that adds to the charm.
Vegan-Friendly Menu: One of the best surprises was discovering that The Island Restaurant offers vegan food – something I really appreciate. As a vegan myself, it’s always a delight to find a place that offers delicious plant-based options, and this restaurant did not disappoint. Their menu is thoughtfully curated with a variety of choices that cater to different tastes.
Food Experience: On my first visit, I had the opportunity to try mango sticky rice, and it was nothing short of a delight. The presentation was stunning, which made the experience even better. The sticky rice was perfectly paired with a rich, sweet mango sauce that made every bite heavenly.
Craving more the next day, I returned for a tofu burger. I was not disappointed. The staff and the chef went out of their way to ensure that my tofu burger was absolutely perfect. The patty was crisp on the outside and soft inside, and the flavors blended together wonderfully. It was easily one of the best tofu burgers I’ve ever had.
On my third visit, I decided to try the red Thai vegan curry, rice, and Thai-style iced coffee. The curry was rich, spicy, and loaded with fresh vegetables, which I absolutely loved. The spice level was perfect, adding a bit of a kick without overwhelming the dish. The rice was the perfect accompaniment, and the iced coffee was refreshing and perfectly balanced, giving me just the right amount of energy to continue my day.
Service: The staff here are exceptional. Mook, Hazel and Isabel, in particular, made our visits incredibly comfortable and enjoyable. They were not only courteous but also genuinely kind and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. On our third visit, we even asked for a discount since it was our third time dining there in a row, and to our pleasant surprise, they gave us a 10% discount without hesitation. That extra touch of customer care made our experience even more memorable.
Final Thoughts: If you're ever in Bangkok, especially near the Khao San Road area, I highly recommend checking out The Island Restaurant. Whether you're a vegan or not, their menu is filled with delicious options that will surely leave you satisfied. The aesthetic atmosphere, courteous staff, and exceptional food make it a perfect place to unwind after a busy day. I’ve already made three visits in a row, and I’ll definitely be back for more. It’s clear that The Island Restaurant takes great pride in providing an unforgettable...
Read moreI had a truly exceptional experience at The Island Hotel. From the moment I arrived, the professionalism and kindness of the team stood out. Despite not knowing me personally and facing an issue with my card transaction due to a bank error, the staff showed remarkable trust and understanding by allowing me to settle the payment two days later — a rare gesture of genuine hospitality.
The rooms were not only comfortable and spotless but also thoughtfully designed to provide a peaceful retreat in the heart of the city. The location is perfect — nestled in a quiet alley yet conveniently close to key attractions, cafes, and transport links.
One of the highlights of my stay was the food. Every dish I tried was flavorful, fresh, and prepared with authentic Thai taste. It’s clear the kitchen team takes great pride in what they serve.
The entire hotel team — from front desk staff to housekeeping — operates with professionalism, warmth, and a true desire to ensure every guest feels cared for. Their service feels personal and heartfelt, which sets this place apart.
The Island Hotel is a perfect blend of comfort, quality, and human warmth. Whether you’re a solo traveler or with family, I highly recommend staying here. Thank you again to the incredible team for making my...
Read moreWe have breakfasted here each morning of our stay in Bangkok as the menu is so extensive and so well executed. Extremely good! The atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed and the food is very good Thai food.
Edit to add that we have returned again to this absolutely brilliant eatery. Why? Because firstly I can get a mug of tea here, builder’s tea, and then above all that, all the food is very tasty, very fresh tasting, it is always a at little busy and we know why! You cannot get any disappointment here. The Thai food is delicious and they do very well with their fruit muesli yogurt too for example. We decided to try and eat at different places each day but after a few days we agreed you can get it all here and not be worried about the 50/50 gamble we experienced by trying different places. We even tried a really expensive place one day, it was awful, sorry, but it was. So now when we are in Bangkok (we are taking trips out to other parts of the country using BK as a base staying at OH Hostel non-broccoli side near Kaohsan Road which is perfect for just what travellers need) we will eat here at the island. The decor is rustic in the good sense of the word, the music is fine, not so much cheesy western music, and the...
