This is not a restaurant I had sourced out or knew about. We were on a trip with a tour company in November 2023 and generally for some of our dinners, The tour company will take us to unique or authentic restaurants that locals go to and are not targeted solely for tourists. Harmonique happened to be one of these places.
We were the only vegetarians in our group and our tour manager had told them our vegetarian dietary restrictions (including no MSG, no eggs or fish sauce , seafood or any meat). It was a multi-course meal so we started with Salad, Appetizer, Soup, Main course and dessert. For salad we got papaya salad, for app it was spring rolls, Tom Kha vegetarian soup, and a Thai curry. For dessert we had mango sticky rice All the food was very, very good albeit spring rolls were slightly oily. The most unique item was the curry which had puffed tofu in it. The puffed tofu was so light that it absorbed the curry sauce and made it really really tasty and was not heavy at all. In 3 weeks in Thailand this was the only place that we came across Thai puffed tofu in our curry . It was amazingly sumptuous and we really really loved that. Kudos to them for making everything vegetarian/vegan. Food portions were huge and actually after the salad came we told them for ma d my wife they need not bring 2 separate items - they can bring only one and we will share as we did not want to waste food. They still brought 2 of each and we basically ate from one and shared the other with our tour members sitting on our table. When I told our tour manager that we asked for 1 but they still brought 2 , he relayed to us that some Thai people get offended if you refuse food because they have made it with so much love. I guess I should have known better and learnt more about some of the food customer
Service - all the people were very friendly and as long as you don't expect quick service you will be fine. Just remember you are on vacation and you have come here to enjoy and experience the meal . I like it that they don't rush like they do in US restaurants
Ambiance - I think place is converted from a house so has its own charm. Its not a huge place so with all of us it did get crowded
Thank you to the owner and staff for a very very unique main course meal and all the...
Read moreI’ve been eating here for probably 10 years. Normally the food is ok, I’ve had an upset tummy 1 time mildly but otherwise food is served hot and tasty.
New chef now ... jeez how the place has changed. Staff were too busy gossip between each other to care about customer. They even put the food on the table next to me as they were too lazy to clear plates and serve us. We were 1 of 3 customers at the restaurant and it’s normally quite full... goes to show you how other people also don’t appreciate the new chef and the lazy staff.
We eat here when guests come to town, my guest have also eaten here for almost 10 years. They told me to find a new place to take them when they come to Bangkok. I agree.
Sorry Harmonique, these are tough times and if I spend my hard earned money at your restaurant I want good service and good food. Hope you improve so we can come...
Read moreNice setting but more suited to Westerners who are not used to Thai food or want to eat Thai food that is similar to what can be found in Europe, USA, Australia/NZ etc. The restaurant has a very funky look and feel and was full of Western people, mostly French. My Thai friend and her partner were disappointed with the food (as was I). Three dishes were sent back for correction but still failed to impress. While the dishes were well presented and used great ingredients there was no depth of flavour that lovers of Thai food would expect. The service was fair, at best and the prices the same as you can easily find in any Westernised Thai restaurant in any Western country - 3,000 baht for food (3 people) and 1 bottle of wine. I would not go back but would recommend to Farang visiting for the first time or those who want a gentle introduction...
