High Tide Eatery & Bar - BKK — Restaurant in Bang Rak Subdistrict

We chose this restaurant for dinner tonight because of the riverside view, with IconSiam right across the water. We got there pretty early, around 5:30 PM, and there was only one other table occupied. We hadn’t made a reservation, but we wanted to sit outside by the river. Since the sky looked like it might rain, we asked to sit in the covered outdoor area, which had plenty of space. A staff member came over and told us we couldn’t sit there because they had to keep it available in case it rained, so the reserved table by the river without a roof would need to move inside. I couldn’t help but think, “We’re already here, the reserved table hasn’t even arrived yet, the place is practically empty, and it’s not even raining. Why can’t we sit there?”

So, we headed back inside to the air-conditioned section. The bartender took our drink orders, and he was great—really helpful and friendly. But the female server with the ponytail, who was taking our food order, was slow to come over. We tried to order steamed fish, but they only had fried fish (even though the menu showed steamed). Then, we wanted to order Nam Prik Kai Pu (crab egg chili dip), but the server said they were out of cha-om (acacia leaves) and asked if mackerel could be served instead. I said that was fine, but I was thinking, “Crab egg chili with mackerel? That’s kinda weird.” In the end, when the food came out, there was cha-om, but no mackerel as promised. The server who took the order? Completely disappeared, no updates or explanations.

What impressed me about this place were two things: one, the food was delicious, and two, the food came out quickly, which means the kitchen was really on top of things. The riverside view was also stunning. However, I was a bit disappointed that there were so many empty tables outside, but we weren’t allowed to sit there—even though only one long table was reserved. The staff could’ve handled the situation better in case it did rain (which it didn’t, by the way, even by the time we left, and the outside tables remained empty the whole time).

Overall, this place shines with its beautiful river view and tasty food. The only person who stood out in terms of service was the bartender. And a big thumbs up to the chef for making such delicious food! The other staff seemed like they didn’t want to be there—especially the girl who took our order, who honestly might be better suited for a different role. View ⭕️ Nice riverview Food ❌❌ mediocre/bad , cold food, also found ฝอยขัดหม้อ(a piece of steel wool) in the steak. Drink 🫤 apparently cocktails are ok ( but it takes looong). Service ❌ soooo slow. Doesn’t react well to the situation. Price: around 300-500 per dish or more. it’s not expensive but not cheap either.

Overall: VERY DISAPPOINTED. With this price, the amount of time I wasted, yet the bad food and service were provided. I don’t think it’s worth it. Never again.

Decent decorations and nice location next to the riverside…but that was it..

We had to wait for so long. The food was not good. we ordered about 10 dishes and the best dish was just OK. We ordered spaghetti Alfredo scallops.. and the scallop was still cold.. and it get worse from here believe me.. we found ‘a piece of steel wool’ in the grilled pork chop…and that was the last straw.

The service was even worse, we reported this to the staff. He took the plate away didn’t say what they gonna do about it. So we sit there waiting for sometimes and decided to ask for the bill…🫠. They was like ‘so what do you want us to do about it we said we will make a new one for you’. First, for your reference, that was not communicated at all. Second, I feel like the service kind is not there. I was in a similar situation in the other restaurant before: my friend found a very tiny piece of hair so we informed them just hoping they make the new dish but only did they make the new dish, but they also came to apologise sincerely, and even gave us complimented dessert. But at Hidetide we found ‘a piece of steel wool’ in the dish?!?!! That’s potential hazard and they didn’t even apologise properly.???

Other point, the least they could do is serving water if food will be take very wrong. However, over 30mins after we ordered food&drinks for the newcomers, there weren’t not even a water...

Disappointed. That's the last taste I got when I left that place. We were quite happy to go there for the world cup finals since the restaurant is well decorated and the ambiance is really nice. Tho the good vibe didn't last long. There was no space around the big screen so we got inside with a small one. It is fine it was our fault for not booking. So we ordered some food but they didn't have what I wanted... Fine. I ordered something else. We asked 2 waiters to tell us when there is space outside with the big screen since the one inside was actually lagging so badly. They said yes they would. But then when a space got free they gave it to two people who arrived after us... The food of my gf arrived cold... Mine arrived 20 minutes after hers... Wasn't even good since they mixed mustard sauce with some sort of water... Dunno why they put mustard if they have to save money by mixing with water. The experience was not as expected especially when we received the bill. overpriced for the quality of food and service. The decoration doesn't save it all. Also, don't expect to find a taxi when u leave that area... (not...
