If someone suggested a beer by Bangkok’s Saen Saep klong (canal) back in the day, you’d think they were crazy.
Foul smells, rancid water, and weird things floating in the canal were a major turnoff. But things are changing thanks to the extension, and renovation of klong-side walkways, and more clean ups, to make the canal more inviting and attractive to walk along and socialize.
Two Palms Tap Room is a bit of a first mover in optimizing the canal side opportunity. Very newly opened, Two Palms is a great addition to the capital’s craft beer scene. 15 taps I think, of local brews makes it stand out even more (sorry Chang & Singha beer lovers you’ll have to go somewhere else). There’s also BBQ! But we didn’t eat the night we visited but I’ll definitely be back to try the food.
Besides fab beers, punters will enjoy a lovely alfresco drinking environment in the renovated courtyard of the majestic Thai house that’s home to Two Palms. There’s also an indoor room near the bar and beer taps for a klong side view.
Great music is another feature. Rather than recycling radio hits or bossa nova, the Tap Room playlists are eclectic and lean towards the alternative side of the music spectrum.
We tried a selection of refreshing, tasty IPAs, pale ales, and pilsners during our visit but didn’t have the balls to try the sour - maybe next time. And there will definitely be a next time because Two Palms hits all the spots and more. Buddha bless Two Palms and all who eat and...
Read moreSo happy I came on their opening day. The place looks great - nicely decorated, cozy, and has a really chill vibe. It’s perfect for hanging out with friends or even just coming alone to relax. Prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality of food you get.
The highlight here is definitely their grilled and smoked dishes, which are done in the restaurant’s own style. I tried the “Yum Naem” (fermented pork salad) and it totally surprised me they grill the Naem first, so it has this really nice smoky flavor you don’t usually get. Super tasty and unique!
Also had the shrimp in fish sauce, and it was fresh and flavorful, with just the right amount of kick.
Overall, I really enjoyed my time here. Great food, good vibes, and friendly service. I’ll definitely be back...
Read moreThe place just opened recently and has a great atmosphere, with seating right by the riverside and an outdoor area as well. The staff are friendly and provide excellent service. There are many beer taps to choose from, and they even offer beer flights for those who want to sample different brews. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a craft beer spot.
They don’t serve food yet, but the shop is lovely enough to allow customers to order food online and enjoy it there.
The only challenge is parking — there are only 2–3 spots in front of the shop, so you’ll need to find street parking nearby.
If you come with someone who doesn’t drink beer, the shop also has cocktails. We ordered one to try, and it was delicious.
