First stop in @m_shaps’ Asia tour was Bangkok, Thailand 🇹🇭 for 3 days. Save this post if you’re planning to visit because here is everywhere we ate and spent. As a reminder, it’s 2 of us eating so this is the total price of the food! 🌟Jek Pui ($2.37) for two of the curries, we saw this one on Neflix’s street food show. It’s very fragrant and a cool experience to sit outside and watch them prepare the curries fresh 🌟Elvis Suki ($15.40) for two fat beers, chicken fried rice, and their signature scallops with sausage 🌟Jeh O chula ($4.44) for the tom yum soup with 🌟noodles and pork, they also have options with seafood 🌟Kor Panit’s ($3.69) mango sticky Rice is life changing and can’t believe how fresh the mangos taste 🌟@methavalaisorndaeng ($29.67) was a nice change up and is a bit of a fancier spot but since they ave one Michelin star but we loved the lemongrass salad, crispy spring rolls, and shrimp pad Thai 🌟The malls are amazing like Siam Paragon and Central World but we wanted to go to Iconism too which we heard has a floating market - we got so much and probably spend around $20 for 2 people 🌟few coffee shops we liked - Wanderlust, Petit Soleil, and Cases Larpin (~$2-$5) • • • • #sistersnacking #sistersnackingthailand #thailand #thailandfood #bangkok #bangkokthailand #bangkok🇹🇭 #bangkokfood #bangkokcafe #travel #eathis #asia #travelblogger #travelgram

An unforgettable birthday celebration at this Michelin restaurant! From the warm welcome that ushered my family to a table overlooking the Democracy Monument intersection, to the attentive service throughout the evening, every detail was impeccable. The staff's graciousness extended to accommodating my mother's custom-made cake, which they thoughtfully set aside until the perfect moment. As we resumed our seats, a carefully curated selection of red and white wines was presented. My father's choice, the White Label Shiraz (2019), proved to be an excellent companion to the impending culinary journey. Turning to the menu, our adventure commenced. The Papaya Salad, garnished with dry chili, tender shrimp, and sweet pomelo chunks, served as a delightful entree. The pinnacle of our feast was the Roasted Duck Red Curry, a succulent dish that left us in awe. The staff ensured an ample supply of rice to accompany this masterpiece. The evening still brimming with enchantment, the staff brought forth my mother's Almond-infused rum cake, accompanied by the harmonious strains of the "Happy Birthday" song. The air was filled with laughter! I couldn't have asked for a more splendid birthday celebration. This restaurant, epitomized by its captivating ambiance, delectable cuisine, and attentive staff, has etched itself into my memory. Thank you Methavalai!

The homey ambiance of the Methvalai Sorndeng provides a welcoming and comfortable dining experience that makes you feel right at home. Though the table set up and seating can be a bit cramped. The decor and overall atmosphere create a relaxed and cozy environment that adds to the overall enjoyment of the meal. They have a range of mild to spicy food that caters to everyone’s spice tolerance. It's an excellent feature for those who want to try something new and experience the different levels of spiciness in Thai cuisine. The Tom Yum soup is a standout dish that perfectly blends the sour, sweet, and spicy flavors that Thai cuisine is known for. The right amount of creaminess adds an extra layer of flavor that complements the other ingredients perfectly. The pandan chicken dish is a must-try, with its smoky, tender, and juicy chicken sure to please even the pickiest eaters. The smoky, fragrant pandan leaves add a unique and delicious flavor that sets it apart from other chicken dishes. The green curry is a good option for those who prefer milder spiced food, although it may be a bit bland for those who like their curries with more kick. Some may find it to be a bit watered down, but it's still a good option nonetheless. Overall, the Methvalai Sondaeng offers a great dining experience, that fills and satisfies.

Those who say that the restaurant is too old or not modern enough do not appreciate the tremendous legacy behind this restaurant. It’s a pretty solid place with exquisitely delicious food, everything is still memorable after the meal. Nothing disappointed. Sorndaeng serves “Chaowang” cuisine with some Isaan dishes (i.e. Larb and Somtum), and basic Thai desserts. When you eat here you feel like all the dishes have been mastered: it deserves it’s Michelin star. On a Saturday afternoon at one PM the restaurant has a lively atmosphere with cheery patrons. In the background, blissful singing from a piano and voice duet. The waiters here are well dressed and approachable (it feels like they are honored by their jobs). The pinnacle of the experience is the view. It’s the Democracy statue in all of it’s glory. The arches protruded like large giants and the gold paint shimmered. Four of us with desserts ran for ~3,200 baht: fair enough given it’s one-star rating, the live music, expertly crew and the impeccable food. Keep in mind that down the road people are buying thousand baht omelettes from Jay Fai and mysteriously not complaining about that. We were stuffed to the brim and could have spent 500 baht less… Will come back.

Wow just amazing spot on traditional thai food made to perfection! Everything we ordered and everything I have tried in the past is amazing. The prices here are nothing compared to the Michelin restaurants in America or Europe but the food is way better, just the right flavors and balance! I suggest the fluffy catfish with the mango salad, banana flower salad, the steamed red seafood curry in banana leaf, beef panang, fish ball eggplant green curry with the nice and chewy fermented white noodles as well as any other dish to be honest. You are guaranteed to get the real deal authentic food without getting sick. Dress semi formal if you want to blend in with the high society aristocratic filthy rich asians but if you are a foreigner they won't mind how you look. Don't eat anything before you come here so you can try many dishes! You can order several dishes as half orders too. Oh yeah and try the chilled rice in jasmine water if you get the chance, it's usually only during the summer in other restaurants as well!

Certainly good, but not particularly overwhelming. Prices are very affordable for a Michelin star restaurant, with most small portions available around 250THB. Tom Yum Goong: river prawn was large and fresh, perfectly firm. Soup itself wasn't really outstanding; essentially the same as streetside vendors. Duck curry: curry sauce itself was quite good, but the duck was really lean and felt a little dry. I've had better in Canada (!) although it's surprisingly cheaper here. Shrimp and eggplant salad: honestly the standout highlight of the meal. Thai eggplant was sweet and tender, and worked well with the shallots, onions, and chilis. Shrimp was cooked well and quite large. Mango sticky rice: underwhelming at best. Mango wasn't that sweet, and the sticky rice tasted kind of stale. Overall experience: decent for the price, but very much just a fancier Thai restaurant with a star rather than something outstanding or worth going out of your way for. Service and environment were standard for fine dining.
