This place is in a key tourist spot, most of the staff do not speak English, they can not take orders properly. The wife speaks better English then all the young staff, and she's pretty old.
We visited right after covid, only the husband and wife worked there then, he manned the register, she manned the kitchen, the cooking times were long, but the food was amazing.
Hands down the best Khao Soi I have ever tasted!
However... once tourism picked up, the wife stopped cooking, either got another cook or family took over, the food went from being amazing every week to being terrible every second week, and now it's completely terrible.
It was our go-to place for Thai food, especially Khao Soi, we gave it so many chances, over 1-2 year period, we are grateful we tasted the authentic Rachadamneon Kitchen Khao Soi before it became overly touristy and commercialized.
I know people can't work forever, but family recipes should be passed down, you should not make a new recipe for a restaurant that's been open...
Read moreTL;DR worst restaurant in Thailand! Food and service terrible - we got thrown out without dinner!
This is like the sort of place that is absolutely great everywhere in Thailand, cozy, local, cheap and delicious. This place manages to be the exception to that rule! We went and ordered 2 dishes, my husband’s arrived without issue but my pad Thai was burnt. Not just a bit but acrid and inedible. I sent it back, only to have to come back a minute later telling me ‘it’s the black sauce we use, it’s not burnt’. Presumably after this the chef threw a strop. We had the bill thrown at us after I requested they re make the dish and then got told the kitchen had run out of ingredients so I couldn’t have anything to eat. 0/10 recommend - bad cook and bad staff made this easily our worst meal in Thailand. Try next door - we didn’t eat there but can guarantee...
Read moreVery below average food. On my whole Thailand trip this was the most disappointing. Pad Krapao / Holy Basil stir fried didn’t even have ANY veggies or a chili in it. What was that, never had any such bad Pad Krapao. No extra chilies on the table, but ketchup? The egg was also missing at first. Plus: they advertise with taking credit cards but then suddenly „the machine is broken“ we are so sorry. And when I then paid with a 1000 Baht note, they were really annoyed. Two stars for the Fish cake which was good.
A bad choice. Advice: Go somewhere else (A few steps next to it is a...
