Misleading Advertising #1: The Happy Hour Buy One Get One sign drew me in on premise of having 2 beers and a snack before dinner. Another couple arrived with the same draw. However, I got my bill and was charged for both beers. Upon questioning this, I and the couple learned that the happy hour only covered cocktails, not all drinks, although the sign did not state this anywhere. Fortunately the other couple had not ordered their second drinks and could avoid spending extra money in this place!
Misleading Advertising #2: A sign on the wall states 'fresh food'. The battered squid was anything BUT fresh as the overbattered rings were all identically sized. Freshly battered and fried squid rings should be of different size as a squid is not a perfectly cylindrical animal, and the batter should be falling off the squid when presented at table.
Lackluster Service: In spite of 2 tables having guests, the waitstaff were lounging at other tables, phones in hand or half asleep. Yes, I am aware This is Thailand, but I had to walk to the back of the restaurant with an empty beer bottle to get my second (not free ha ha) beer.
Terrible food and service. I can't believe this restaurant has the audacity to display a Trip Advisor "Certificate of Excellence" at its doorstep.
Stay far, far away. There are numerous other eateries in the immediate area which I can wholeheartedly recommend, both service...
Read moreThis place is TRAVESTY of a restaurant. If you love food, and appreciate authentic Thai food, then do take some time to read this review.
I completely agree with the earlier review. Service was slow, food portions were pathetically small, and the food is mediocre at best. We had the pineapple rice, fish cake and noodles and some beer and Thai milk tea, and sad to say the BEER tasted the most authentic.
When I approached the manager to nicely feedback about the quality of the food, she brushed me off, pretending not to understand a single word of English. Her male Caucasian companion (not speculating on their relationship status) was looking at me the whole time and did not say a thing, even though he clearly understood me.
Would have written earlier, but unfortunately my friend and I fell into a bout of indigestion and food poisoning (which culminated in both vomiting and diarrhea; which despite the discomfort was a timely purging of the "food" we had)post dining at this place.
So yes if you're looking for a place in the Old city, post Lila massage, to have a nice beer and just chill, by all means. But if you really want to good authentic Thai food, and save your tummy and possibly your holiday, then run for the hills- or maybe just the many other less classy but more authentic places along...
Read moreWe kept our orders very simple and tried to avoid the semi-overdone regulars like pad thai, curry, or fried rice. Instead we opted for kale with fried pork and spicy beef salad. Ok, we also got spring rolls. We were delighted by all of it, especially the main dishes. I can see how some folks would say the portions are small, but really, and yes I'm going to be judgmental here, that's probably because they are used to the American standard of overeating and/or having leftovers for later. I'm American, and the portions were perfect. We did have a beer each, plus split an order if rice. So with a little creativity, this became a meal deal for 505tb. Seriously the best pork I've had in a long time. And for those who say their dishes were too spicy, you need to know your limits and just opt out of spice if you can't handle it. We specifically asked for the beef salad to be very spicy and it was perfectly spiced, not overwhelming just tasty, tasty, tasty.
Moral of the story, follow previous negative reviews' advice and avoid the ripoff dishes and try something simple and...
