The Writers Club & Wine Bar — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

Staff are friendly and accommodating. Wine was nice. Unfortunately, that is where it ends. Food was very slow - it took nearly 45 minutes for my daughter’s fries to arrive. This was followed at 55 minutes by my wife’s mediocre Khoa Soi, I say mediocre because it was mild, tasted of nothing other than coconut and only contained about three pieces of chicken. My rather bland fish with ginger dish followed in quick succession. I can only presume that they completely forgot to cook my children’s tempura prawns as there was no sign of them. They had still not arrived when our meals were finished and when asked I was told that they were just plate-ing them. This was followed by the staff member heading to the kitchen to ‘check’. After two minutes there was still no sign of the children’s food so we asked to take them off the bill and settle up for the items we received. They did this without question. This is a lively bar and restaurant, hosted by friendly staff. There are many dishes on offer here, including the usual favourites. All of the food that we ordered was nice, but nothing stood out, in particular as a memorable dish. As an example, the yellow curry was quite tasty, but lacked the intense flavours that we had experienced in other restaurants. We stumbled upon this restaurant and it was very busy when we got there but luckily got a table with no wait. The waiters were very welcoming and quick to take our orders. I got the khao soi which was absolutely delicious and my partner got chicken fried rice, we also got a side of the chicken satay with an amazing peanut dipping sauce which we adored.
