This was one of my favourite restaurant last time i was in Chiangmai a coupe years ago, unfortunately I was quite disappointed this time, they’ve expanded the restaurant since then and seems like now most of the customers are tourists. On to food- the steak fried rice had overcooked steak and was quite chewy, the rice was mostly coated with a savoury beef broth/sauce this was nothing like the same dish I had last time which had very tender medium rare beef and was coated with a nice beed oil on top. The whole dish came out lukewarm and had no hint of smoke so I also questioned if it was made fresh. I had asked the staff and they said if I would have to request ahead if i wanted medium rare beef. They also tried to explain to me in Chinese while i spoke English to them the whole time. I am not sure if that is now the policy or if the restaurant has just gotten really popular over the years with tourists and this has become the new standard. Not a cheaper meal for local standards. Not sure if i...

If you like beef, and asian cuisine, look no further. The 5 star ratings here tell you what you need to know. Whether you are eating with rice or noodles, whether with soup or stir-fried, the beef that is offered here stands out and is the star of the show.

Trust a place that specialises in cooking a specific meat or dish, and in this case it’s their focused experience in cooking beef that earns them their rightful distinction amongst the numerous restaurants in this area.

Come with friends and family to get to sample the delicious selection on their menu. Otherwise you’d be returning here quite a number of times to shortlist and choose just a sample of what is offered on their menu. It took me several minutes just bouncing between several tantalizing options before finally settling on one, while mentally noting others that I have to come back to try.

Highly...

My recent lunch at The Ancient Thai Restaurant in Chiang Mai was an absolute delight. Despite arriving to a crowded dining room – which, as they say, speaks volumes – the experience was nothing short of excellent. I opted for the beef stew, which was a beautiful mix of both soft and fried beef. It was not only beautifully presented but also incredibly tasteful, with rich, well-balanced flavors that left a lasting impression. The bustling atmosphere only added to the authentic charm of the place, clearly indicating its popularity among locals and visitors alike. If you're looking for an authentic and delicious Thai meal in Chiang Mai, The Ancient Thai Restaurant is a must-visit. Just be prepared for it to be busy – and for...

Amazing way to start off chiang mai. This is where I had my first meal after landing. Rice has that wok aroma to it, not soggy, and flavorful. The beef was also pretty good. Khao soi is absolutely delicious and creamy. I lived most of my life in Malaysia, and the curry is similar but pretty different. Malaysia's curry was always too spicy for me but this ain't. Rich coconut, creamy, curry broth. Small dish with pork parts are cooked well, the sauce that comes with it is pretty spicy and flavorful but it doesn't overpower the pork at all. The mango sticky rice is also really good - fresh and sweet, and the rice is warm and texture is al-dente.

Went here for lunch because of friend's recommendation. The restaurant was nice, with fans and ACs inside, perfect to shield ourselves from the high heat of Chiang Mai. The restaurant is halal, and they only serve beef. We ordered beef khao soi, beef with glass noodle, beef with rice, and vegetables. The beef was tender for the first bite, but some of the other pieces was quite hard to chew. Each portions was given a lot of meat, made us felt really full. Taste-wise, it's not that special, and we had to spend around 600 THB for 3 people, which is okay, but we can get foods with same taste and much cheaper price from other restaurant.
