Blanc Chiang Mai — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

Nice and cozy restaurant with good food, but the service was not good and no wine by the glass.

They seemed to have a lot of staff, but no one came to check if we needed anything, if we finished eating or if the food was OK. I had to wave down a waiter to tell them that we finished the entrée and was ready for the main, then had to ask them two times to clear the empty plate and bottle from the table and when we wanted to pay I had to go out in the main room to waive down a waiter and ask to pay.

When ordering wine we were told that all the four red wines they normally have available by the glass was sold out so they didn't have any red wine by the glass. However, they were selling a wine buffet with two different kinds of red wine so they obviously had open bottles and could easily have sold us a glass of one of those open wines, but we were told that it was not possible to buy a glass of wine at all.

Seems a bit crazy that you can't buy a glass of wine at a restaurant like this on a Saturday night.

The bad service and the fact that they refused to sell a glass of wine just ruined the experience a bit despite the nice food.

For a place like this with fine dining prices the service really should be...

Food is not bad, but the service is terrible. First time I was here they refused to sell us a glass of wine. Even though they had several bottles open for their "wine buffet", they said that we can't buy a single glass, but have to buy the buffet. I told them that they could charge higher price for the glass if needed, but that we only wanted one glass of wine, but they just said that if we wanted wine we would have to buy the full wine buffet. Apart from that we had to call staff several times just to get the table cleared and when we wanted to pay I had to go into the next room and get someone as they were completely ignoring us.

When I tried to visit second time I messaged them early in the day to book a table and gave them all the information for the reservation. Early afternoon they replied and asked for the same information again, which I sent them straight away. I didn't get a reply so I messaged them again a bit later to ask if the reservation was confirmed, but even though they had read my messages I never received a reply, and still haven't received any reply many days later.

When you are charging as high prices as they do here, this level of bad service is...

Luckily, I got the chance to visit Blanc, located on the quiet side of Nimman—and what a beautiful location! The restaurant is divided into different rooms, offering nice privacy. The wine room? It feels like arriving in heaven! With so many choices, it’s hard to decide.

But Mr. Som brought out two amazing bottles of wine from Italy—10 out of 10! 🇮🇹👏🏻

The beet and rocket salad was fresh, and the balsamic vinegar on top was pure magic. Oh, how I’ve missed beetroot!

The smoked salmon with chili was a new experience, and what can I say? I loved that fusion!

The JAEW GLAZED pork ribs from the special menu might just be the best pork ribs I’ve ever eaten! They melted in my mouth, and the quality of the meat was high-class.

The pasta? Simply epic. Nothing overly fancy, but every flavor worked together perfectly. Loved it!

And for the well-deserved dessert: the sour lemon tart. Oh, that was seriously sour! 🍋

Altogether, it was an amazing night—great environment, good music, and unforgettable flavors.

P.S. I wish I had a wine cellar...
