This is the best restaurant in Chiang Mai for many reasons, and we ate here every day after we found this gem. We actually found this place after returning from the night bazaar around 23:30 only to find that most places in Nimmanhaemin close at or before 22:00 which is very surprising. This place is open until 2:00am on weekends so we gave it a shot.
First, the food is delicious, no matter what you order from this menu it is prepared fresh and tastes amazing. We were lucky enough to try 12 to15 different menu items here and all of them were spectacular. Service is quite fast and very friendly no matter what time you come in. The staff is large and efficient. Secondly, the prices are the best in Chiang Mai for the quality. Every dish on the menu cost less that 100 baht ($4-5 CAD). You can get a side of sticky rice with your meal for 1 baht! Beer is reasonably cheap by comparison, they even offer free fruit beverage and ice for drinks which is a great touch. Third, the ambience - presence of place - is the best in Nimmanhaemin. This place has a real buzz about it. Whether you eat lunch or dinner, or you come here for late eats you will be blown away by the diversity of the crowd, everybody eats at this place from locals to tourists. In my opinion this place is the best kept food secret in Chiang Mai, I cannot recommend this...
Read moreThis restaurant caught my eye when we passed by on the way to another place. So come dinner time, I convinced wifey to eat here.
From the moment we sat till the time we left, the service we received was always prompt and attentive. Though the staff who attended to us seemed of tender age, they displayed great attitude.
We must be quite peckish, as the two of us ended up finishing 4 dishes. My wife's favorite is the deep fried tilapia fish. Mostly because it evoked memories of her grandma. I'd prefer it to be fried a tad longer to make the small bones crispier. But it was good nevertheless.
The Pad Thai noodle was ok, and the portion was good for small eaters. Basil pork rice tasted a bit different from what we expected. Instead of being savoury, it was on the sweeter side. I liked it, but my wife said she reserves her judgement. There was a rather unusual vegetable on the menu so we had that. Some bits were a bit fibrous, though it tasted ok too.
Overall though, we left feeling rather satisfied. This is one place I wouldn't mind...
Read morePerfect place to eat all day long - breakfast, lunch and dinner. They serve amazing food at low prices and portions are relatively big compared to other places. Ingredients are all fresh, sauces are well combined, not too spicy or sweet. Broth in the soup is real (not instant or sugar). Our favorites are mushrooms in pepper sauce, pork broth soup, ginger chicken, sunflower sprouts salad, roasted pork, Thai iced tea (it is sweet as it's probably made with carnation condensed milk, but I just love the taste). Staff is very friendly and accommodating (we often ask for no noodles, no sugar, not spicy options). There are a lot of things you can add to any dish to make it perfect just for you, like a boiled egg, an omelette and many other things from the menu. I don't recommend chicken with cashews - not the best dish on the menu, a bit shallow in taste. There is a clean...
