The staff was friendly, but I did not like the food. That Cheeseburger was unsatisfying to me. The fries were good. The prices were also too high. Local Thai cuisine is way better and cheaper. Go there when you want some VEGAN Fast Food or go to the big Fast Food chains like the golden M if you are in the mood for some meat Burgers.
Update after Munchies Answer: Dear Munchies, first of all thank you for your answer and caring. Regarding your point that you are a vegan restaurant I have to say that I really did not realise it the day I went there. On your first outside door sign you do not mention to be a vegan restaurant (Only saying "loving Fast Food", see in picture). The next day when passing by your restaurant I saw it on the smaller door sign behind. That explained a lot to me...Also your staff did not mention it once. And having a Cheeseburger on the menu really does not show any hint of vegan kitchen either. Regarding your FULL HAPPINESS GUARANTEE. We were bringing back our plates with a half uneaten Burger and told the staff that we did not like it. There was no reaction from their side and we really did not want to intend on getting the happiness guarantee and our money back.
I really do not have a problem with vegan kitchen, I actually like it, but when I am expecting to get a classic cheeseburger and get a vegan one without knowing it than I just got disappointed in this moment.
Maybe you' re trying to make it clearer that you are a vegan restaurant to passing by customers. Like for example writing it on the menu inside as well. Also some explanation to your staff regarding clarifying the vegan kitchen and the Full Happiness Guarantee would be helpful for you in the future. :)
I am giving you 3 stars now as I was not able to try your food with the expectation of getting vegan food as it might be tasty...
Read moreI’ve given every vegan place great reviews just because I want to support them, but this was so bad. When I opened my order and saw this, I just had to laugh. The hot dog was sooo dry and the bun was so hard it was like it was a month old. The bun wasn’t connected. I asked for some more mustard because it was so dry it was hard to eat and barely had any sauce on it. The person at the register said the mustard would be 30 baht. I showed him the hot dog I received and he said “sorry” and walked away. 89 baht and extra mustard would make it 119 baht. The sign on the wall was just ironic. I’m sure other things are good, but I just didn’t want to buy anything else overpriced at that point. I wanted to post this so you can have realistic expectations.
Also, I went to the bathroom, and one of the staff members was on their hands and knees in the bathroom with the door unlocked, so I walked in on them. I was shocked and asked them if they were okay. They looked very awkward like I caught them doing something and ran out past me once as I was staring at them and didn’t even say anything. I hope they washed their hands somewhere because they didn’t wash them after lying on the bathroom floor. Very weird behavior from all of the staff, and it felt so awkward in the restaurant.
Response: no one offered me a refund ever, and I never refused a refund. I would have taken a refund for sure. No one even talked to me. The person at the counter wanted me to pay 30 baht for the mustard. I don’t know what the owner is...
Read moreWe are staying locally and we looked at google maps for somewhere to eat that we'd not tried before. This place popped up which surprised us as we have walked down this street many times and not noticed a vegan restaurant. We discovered this is because it has only recently opened and they do not have signs up yet.
Munchies offers vegan 'junk' food. Me and my partner both went for the burger and wedges (though a misunderstanding when ordering meant we only actually ordered one portion of wedges). The burger was excellent. It came wrapped up, in true fast-food style. A great tasting burger with bacon, cheese and a truffle mayo; perhaps the best vegan junk burger I've had. The wedges were also delicious and we soon regretted accidentally only ordering 1 portion! Neither me or my partner are vegan but we both enjoyed this tasty lunch.
Al always, there is always something that could be improved. In this case, I felt that charging for condiments was disappointing, particularly as the food itself is not incredibly cheap when compared to a lot of Chiang Mai's street food (burger was 99 baht, wedges were 75 baht). I would have preferred the burger and wedges to come together as my partner had eaten her burger before the wedges had arrived. These are minor details that I am sure will be improved in time. What is important is the food and, whether you are vegan or not, I fully recommend you give Munchies a try. You will not be...
