Hear Tong Food Shop — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

We went to Hear Tong two times in a month. They provide great variety on Thai Chinese quick dishes of valuable price. Located near to Changmoi area and Tha Pea Gate. Tom Yum Pla is the best I've ever taste, I had two different versions, with and without coconut milk in Hear Tong, but they are all wonderful. I can taste the flavors of all ingredients yet the spicy level will not overruled taste of the rest. Stir fry vermicelli with egg, can you imagine less oil on the plate? This can show the level of cooking of the Chef and this is beautifully cooked. Phad Thai using crunchy yellow noodles, they use the noodles that topped on Khao Soi which is very interesting. Crab meat in Yellow creamy curry, they use fresh Crab meat and the sauce is great to go with steam rice. Fried black mushrooms with minced pork and egg, another Amust I cannot resist, simply delicious.

The dining area is next to their cooking station but it's not too hot. In fact I love watching their work all the time. Just an art to see their teamwork and the skills of two chefs on the wok stations. In fact they have continuous orders to pick up delivery service.

Sincerely the worst experience in Thailand in many years. Went to this place due to the good reviews but apparently they are too busy preparing all the take away orders that they don't care about foreign walk in guests. Waited more than 45 minutes for our food although there were only two more guests sitting at the restaurant. Delivery drivers sitting all around the restaurant and coming and going all the time. Two Thai guests arrived long time after us and got served straight away. At that point I went to complain and was told in a quite unpolite way that those guests had ordered in advance by phone and that I had to wait ten more minutes for my food, obviously no excuse. We were sitting just next to the open kitchen and could perfectly see what they were cooking, our order was literally prepared in less than a minute but only after my complaint. Don't let this place ruin your evening, go spend your time and money...

Upon my late arrival in Chiang Mai I found this little restaurant still being open late at night.

I ordered a Pad Thai with broccoli- and shrimp and found both dishes of okay quality. The noodles were chewy, the size was decent and the shrimp were perfectly cooked.

The service was normal to me, they all looked a little tired which is usual when it's nearly midnight and they are working hard in hot weather.

For the two dishes I paid a little over 200baht which is a little more expensive than on the other side of the water, but nothing too much.
