This restaurant quickly became one of our favourites so much so that we decided to return on our last day of our short trip in Chiang Mai. The menu has a variety of food and drink items. The prices are a little more pricey than a hole in the wall spot, but it is worth every baht. We ordered the pineapple fried rice, Khao soi and deep fried spring rolls.
Pineapple fried rice: a robust flavour and the spice brings it to another level. Khao soi: quickly added to one of the best bowl of Khao Soi I've had. It was a balanced mix of sweet, creamy, savory, and spicy. The chicken was surprisingly off the bone, and I loved their side pickled cabbage. Spring rolls: well fried and crunchy, and the fillings were well seasoned. The plum sauce they provided was great for dipping.
The staff were welcoming and friendly. There was one kitchen staff who had a contagious smile whenever she brought the dishes over which added to the experience.
If you think this restaurant is a little pricey for what Thailand is, I suggest you take a chance on them as the quality of the food was all...
Read moreMuch Better Than Expected! I passed up the popular noodle shops on Intrawarorot because I wanted an indoor, air-conditioned lunch on a hot & humid day, so I took a chance on Rodlamun. There were not many other diners, the decor is plain and unpretentious, and the menu is obviously targeted at the tourist crowd, so my expectations were low. But in a word, the food was excellent! I had a red curry beef with rice noodles: the curry was made from scratch with fresh and high quality herbs, spices, vegies, and meat. The meat was tender and the curry had layers of rich flavors. The portion size was good, the service was quick and attentive, and the price was very reasonable. I went back a few days later and had a lunch set with grilled pork, papaya salad, and sticky rice and loved every bite.
I've been spending winters in Chiang Mai for about 10 years and I have dined in a lot of restaurants here, so believe me when I say the cuisine at Rodlamun is about as good as it gets. Give it a try, you will be...
Read moreWe ate at Rodlamun twice during our stay in Chiang Mai, t’s just that good. It’s easily one of the best value-for-money places we visited in Thailand. The Khao Soi here was our favourite in the whole country, rich, creamy and deeply flavorful.
Their chicken satay skewers were equally outstanding and easily the must-have dish, packed with flavor, perfectly grilled and served with great sauces. The watermelon shake was also a refreshing highlight.
The staff were super nice and friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. The portions are generous, prices are modest, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming .
Must have: The satay skewers, incredible flavour and one of the best bites we had in Thailand.
Would return again without hesitation if we’re back...
