Shoyu Restaurant Review - Chiang Mai

Nestled in the heart of Chiang Mai, Shoyu Restaurant offers a delightful culinary experience that beautifully blends traditional Japanese flavors with a modern twist. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by a warm ambiance and a friendly staff that make you feel right at home.

Atmosphere: The decor is minimalist yet inviting, featuring wooden accents and soft lighting that create a cozy environment perfect for both intimate dinners and casual gatherings. The open kitchen adds an element of excitement, allowing diners to watch the chefs at work.

Food: The menu at Shoyu is a celebration of authentic Japanese cuisine, with a variety of options ranging from sushi and sashimi to ramen and donburi. The highlight for me was the sushi platter; each piece was artfully crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients that truly showcased the chef's skill. The tuna and salmon were particularly noteworthy, melting in the mouth with every bite.

Service: The service was attentive without being intrusive..

Value: Prices at Shoyu are reasonable considering the quality of the food and the overall experience. It's a great place for both casual meals and special occasions.

Conclusion: Overall, Shoyu Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone in Chiang Mai looking for delicious Japanese cuisine in a welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're a sushi aficionado or new to Japanese food, Shoyu promises a memorable dining experience that will leave you wanting to return. Highly...

Shoyu sushi restaurant is hidden in the back yards near Loi Kroh road. It’s not a place you stumble upon by chance. I would never have found this place was it not for google maps / reviews.

The service can be very inconsistent: the second time I came here a very young waiter was serving and he didn’t speak English and had no idea what he was doing. It seemed the kitchen had broken down as well and the food took forever to arrive. But the food is worth waiting for.

I had California roll and squid both delicious.

It’s a very humble shack but there is nothing humble about the food here The sushi chef is brilliant. You can tell both by taste and looks of the sushi that he is professionally trained.

The service is very welcoming and the atmosphere is friendly although the place almost looks as if they just installed a kitchen in an old garage (they probably did) and not a fancy American garage but a simple Asian one. So not exactly an impressive restaurant or a place to go on a first date.

The floor is concrete the roof is made og tin plates.

Prices are very reasonably and the amazing food and the VERY reasonable prices more than make up for the humble surroundings. Iam sure this chef will end up in a...

We decided to try out Shoyu Japanese Restaurant here in Chiang Mai the other evening for some Japanese BBQ, and it was quite a pleasant experience.

Getting to grill our own meats and vegetables right at the table was a lot of fun, and everything felt incredibly fresh and well-prepared. It’s always nice when you can tell the ingredients are of good quality, especially when you're cooking them yourself, and that was certainly the case here.

The atmosphere was also quite inviting, making it a really nice spot to enjoy a meal with a bit of an interactive twist. We found the service to be attentive and friendly, always there if we needed something but never hovering. If you’re in the mood for some Japanese BBQ in Chiang Mai, Shoyu is definitely a place worth...

Got a chicken karage, pork katsu and garlic fried rice for lunch! Overall acceptable in term of presentation and taste. However if you are picky on porky smell and dryness, do avoid ordering the pork katsu.Chicken Karage and garlic fried rice is alright.I noticed there are locals ordering Thai food from the restaurant , I guess you should try asking them about it cause I could smell the fragrant of Thai basil minced pork rice while waiting for my food.
