The location of the hotel is unbeatable—you’re walking distance to the city center and to the eastern canal area and night market. Every morning I get an excellent cappuccino brought up to my room and then set out on foot to do whatever I feel like.
Haven’t seen a hotel this clean or new in a long time. (As of February 2025.) Right now I think the rooms are worth $150 USD/night but of course that can change according to supply and demand. If the town is packed I imagine they could charge $200/night.
I recommend bringing noise canceling earbuds to sleep because the owner is still figuring out how to soundproof the rooms. You can always reach out before your stay and ask if they have improved the noise isolation. Normally I’d be shocked if you told me I would leave a 5 star review for a place where I had some trouble sleeping but that problem really pales in comparison to the total experience and I also believe that the owner is still improving this issue.
I had dinner here as an emergency late one night after 10 when I didn’t feel like going back out after returning home, and the pad Thai was solid—nothing spectacular but was so helpful to have good food and a beer on demand. Read moreWe've been here last Friday with our family and it was fantastic. I cannot believe the last review of Db under me (I'm also Dutch but that's not my excuse). First of all ... the spot is spot on! The owner seemed very friendly to us and ... the food was good! In my/our 14 years in Chiang Mai We've never had such golden/brown crispy French frites. The Dutch snacks where Dutch snacks and delicious and the pork schnitzel was as it should be ... big and thin with a crispy crust. My mother had the Thai filled ommelet that was tasty and huge. The kids tried the hamburger, lasagna, spaghetti and khao soi ... all happy and filled up!
We came with 9 persons and ... we all want to...

The European is located in the most perfect part of town, right between the city walls and all the night markets. Just a few minutes walk to everything. The hotel itself was splendid! A stunning property with a massive lush garden (something that is extremely hard to find in most major cities). The staff were beyond friendly and helpful, always happy to serve and help you. The restaurant was another thing that took me by surprise. The food is unbelievable!
Thank you Bertil and everyone for the amazing week, will see you next time...
