Sushi Jiro — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

I go to Sushi Jiro often, the food is very good, price very fair. Yet tonite, although quite busy, I ordered sushi and hot food. After 30 minutes I finally received the sushi, the hot food never came.... I asked for the bill: they charge me for some hot food that I never received.....the waitress asked me if I wanted something else since I didn't eat much, yet all I asked was sold out, and nothin' was suggested. The boss is one of the sushi man, I tried to complain but he did not want to hear anything. Sushi Jiro is popular with the local Japanese community. They frequent this restaurant daily and I do wonder where they reside at.

Nestled in Santitam ; an area populated mainly by Rajaphat University undergraduates. It has retained it's clientele despite moving from a previous location.

The restaurant is unassuming but makes up for it by it's affordable prices. The food is above average and the menu is varied. I had cold soba, tempura prawns, California roll, gyozas,a jug of iced green tea and ice for the grand total of 600฿.

I tried this place for the first time and it was disappointing for 2 critical areas in evaluating Japanese food.I ordered a sushi sashimi set and 80% of the platter was salmon and tuna.The two additional items were artificial crab and Saba,nothing special.Its obvious that being in Chiangmai the fresh fish options would be limited.There were those that mentioned the thick slices of fish as a positive but for me a chef shows his knife skills by cutting precise thin slices.Using chopsticks putting a thick slice of fish in your mouth is not the best way to enjoy sashimi.Bottom line I won’t...
