Nestled on the serene banks of a picturesque lake, Good View Restaurant stands as a culinary oasis, offering a delightful blend of Thai and Japanese fusion cuisine. My recent visit to this charming establishment left an indelible impression, not only due to its exquisite food but also because of the enchanting ambiance it offers.
Upon arrival, I was captivated by the restaurant's setting. The lake view is stunning, especially at night, with gentle breezes carrying the soft melodies of well-curated music across the water. It's an ambiance that promises relaxation and a sensory feast.
The seafood selection at Good View is a highlight, boasting freshness and quality that's hard to find elsewhere. Each dish is a testament to the chef's expertise in sourcing and preparing seafood, ensuring that every bite is a celebration of oceanic flavors. The Thai influences in the menu are authentic and thoughtfully integrated, evident in dishes like the spicy Tom Yum soup, which was a harmonious blend of tangy, spicy, and savory notes.
However, it's the Japanese fusion aspect that truly sets this restaurant apart. Sushi rolls are crafted with precision, combining traditional Japanese techniques with Thai flavors in an innovative and delightful manner. The fusion dishes are creative yet balanced, ensuring that neither cuisine overshadows the other.
One of the standout dishes was the Thai-spiced Tuna Tartare, a brilliant mix of fresh tuna with a hint of Thai spices, served on a delicate bed of sushi rice. Another memorable dish was the Grilled Seabass with Lemongrass, which perfectly married the smoky flavors of the grill with the zesty freshness of lemongrass.
The service at Good View is as commendable as its cuisine. The staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about providing a great dining experience. They are quick to offer recommendations and ensure that every aspect of your meal is to your satisfaction.
In conclusion, Good View Restaurant is more than just a dining destination; it's a holistic experience that combines great food, a beautiful setting, and impeccable service. Whether you're a lover of seafood, a fan of Thai or Japanese cuisine, or simply in...
Read moreEasily one of the worst experiences I've had in any restaurant, and I've worked in restaurants for over a decade.
We weren't happy with a dish we received and unfortunately had to send it back. It might have been a communication error on the menu but we were expecting to eat fish and got a plate of fried breadcrumbs instead. Inedible.
One dish we ordered just wasn't delivered. No explanation or apology was offered.
After about an hour of waiting we got up to pay and found they charged us for the dish they never sent, and the dish we sent back. It's common practice in restaurants around the world to comp a dish if the customer sends it back uneaten.
The manager removed the missing dish from the bill, again without apology, but wouldn't remove the un-eaten, returned dish of fried breadcrumbs. When informed that I would not be paying for that dish there was a brief argument where the manager just repeated over and over that we must pay, then gave up and said that the server would pay for that dish. I wasn't about to let that happen, paid and left.
Absolutely disgusting behaviour from the manager and restaurant to charge their staff for returned food, and shows the type of operation they run.
This all happened in a full restaurant of easily 100 people.
The food we did eat was average and overpriced, better food can be found anywhere in the city for half the price. We went for a 'nice' meal and left disgusted, hungry, disappointed, and 1000 baht poorer.
Oh but the band were...
