Title: A Culinary Journey to Remember at Indiagate Restaurant
Upon entering Indiagate Restaurant, I was immediately enveloped by an aroma that promised an authentic Indian culinary adventure. Nestled in the heart of the city, this restaurant has established itself as a sanctuary for those seeking genuine Indian cuisine.
Ambiance: The ambiance of Indiagate is a harmonious blend of traditional and modern. The walls are adorned with intricate Indian tapestries and paintings that tell tales of a rich cultural heritage, while the lighting is subtly dim, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Soft classical Indian music plays in the background, enhancing the dining experience and setting a serene tone for the evening.
Service: The service at Indiagate was impeccable. From the moment we were greeted at the door, the staff was attentive without being intrusive. They were knowledgeable about the menu, offering personalized recommendations based on our preferences and dietary restrictions. Their attentiveness ensured that our dining experience was seamless and enjoyable.
Food: The culinary offerings at Indiagate are nothing short of spectacular. We began our meal with an assortment of appetizers including Samosas, which were perfectly crispy on the outside, and bursting with a flavorful mixture of potatoes and peas on the inside. The Paneer Tikka was another highlight, featuring soft cubes of paneer marinated in spices and grilled to perfection.
For the main course, the Lamb Rogan Josh was a revelation. The lamb was tender and cooked in a rich, aromatic gravy that was a perfect blend of spices, hitting all the right notes of warmth and depth. The Chicken Tikka Masala was equally impressive, with chunks of tender chicken enveloped in a creamy, spicy-tomato sauce that was truly comforting.
No Indian meal is complete without bread, and the Garlic Naan at Indiagate was perhaps the best I've ever had. Soft, fluffy, and infused with a garlicky flavor that was not overpowering but rather complimentary to every dish.
We concluded our meal with a Gulab Jamun, served warm with a dollop of vanilla ice cream. The dessert was sweet, spongy, and melted in the mouth, providing a perfect end to our meal.
Drinks: The beverage menu was extensive. We opted for the traditional Mango Lassi, which was rich, creamy, and acted as a smooth counterbalance to the spicy dishes.
Conclusion: Indiagate Restaurant is a gem for anyone looking to indulge in authentic Indian cuisine. Each dish was a testament to the chef’s expertise in using traditional techniques and ingredients to bring out the true essence of Indian flavors. The combination of great food, soothing ambiance, and excellent service makes Indiagate a must-visit for locals and tourists alike. Whether you are an aficionado of Indian cuisine or a curious first-timer, Indiagate promises an unforgettable dining experience. Highly...
Read moreI hesitated before writing this long review. Will the owner report me as fake as their own reviews? Will Google believe them and remove it? Time will tell.
Anyhow: I just left this restaurant, disillusioned and 1043 THB poorer, having consumed two small Singhas, some plain rice, a Dal, a butter Naan and half a portion of Tandoori Chicken.
Too be honest, I’m the biggest fool here. I should have suspected that a restaurant with nothing but overwhelming 5 star reviews with the look as if they had been written by chat GPT actually had been written by… well if not chat GPT but at least some very nice friends who never visited the place (hint: read the overwhelming reviews about the atmosphere)
Let’s start with some positives: I was treated decently and no one has been rude. But the food is not worth a five-star review. Or four. Maybe three if the other reviews had been for real. But they can’t be.
The tandoori chicken was the worst I’ve had in Bangkok. Maybe an interesting twist of what tandoori is but nothing similar to the proper Indian restaurants I’ve visited here. And I’ve eaten lots in Bangkok over the past 15 years.
The butter naan was buttery alright but thin and crispy. A sort of papadam version of naan but with butter. Hmmm.
The Dal was grainy and dull and not the smooth taste explosion of spices one would normally expect. I should have suspected something wasn’t right when the (kind) waiter offered me crisps for a complementary starter. Never happened to me at an Indian restaurant before. In all honesty I should confess I ate them since I was hungry. So did I with almost the rest of the food. I have this Freudian upbringing phobia of not finishing my plate.
So: in conclusion: avoid this restaurant. Not because the food is inedible or the people are rude because they are not.
But if they’re reading this review I’m asking them for their own sake: stop posting fake reviews and start cooking tasty food that can compete. And sometimes, come by the table and ask the guest how they are appreciating the food. Just common sense. Good luck.
PS if this review is reported by the owner because they want to delete it and hence read by a real person at Google: think twice dear Google whether I’m an evil competitor who wants to ruin someone’s business by giving a bad review. Or if I’m actually a person who bothered to state something obvious to Google: Start cleaning up fake reviews or you run the risk that we trust...
Read moreDisappointing Experience – Needs Serious Improvement Our visit to Indiagate Restaurant in Thonglor was far from pleasant. Despite the restaurant being almost empty (only one other customer), our order took 25 minutes to arrive—and we had only ordered one chicken dish and two breads.
We specifically ordered Chicken Lababdar but were served a chicken curry instead. When we pointed this out, the server insisted it was the same dish. Only after speaking to the manager did he admit the mistake. While they did offer Gulab Jamun as an apology, it didn’t make up for the poor service.
The staff seemed completely untrained—confused, lacking basic serving etiquette, and even served us warm Coke. The curry itself tasted average, nothing special.
As an Indian restaurant claiming to represent Indian cuisine and culture, the quality of service and attention to detail should be much higher. I’d strongly recommend the management to invest in proper staff training and overall...
