O'Shea's Irish Pub (Sports Bar, Hotel & Rooftop) — Restaurant in Khlong Tan Nuea Subdistrict

I'm a regular here for context and fairness. I often take groups of 10-30 people and book big tables for food and drink several days in advance so appropriate staffing measures can be arranged. I love the rooftop, hence I keep coming back. I also hate complaining and very rarely do.

However... I took 30 Pax last night and had it booked 3 days before. I was completely and utterly disappointed with the service and will never ever return for food alone or with a group.

1. on average, it took 30 mins to get one of the two servers to give our table any attention and order a drink

2. took another 30 mins to receive said drink (repeatedly)

3. when me and a few others finally managed to order food I thought - I'll go for quick and easy as possible. Rib-eye steak and vegetables. This took 2.5 hours to arrive. 2.5 hours!! In this time several people just gave up and went home.

I must have called the staff 10x as I watched people who ordered hours after us get their food. I was told '' steaks take long time'' and' 'you think you're the only person here?'' and ''you don't complain me''. I eventually told them to cancel the entire tables food order then suddenly it arrived. My rare steak was burnt to a crisp and not fit for human consumption. I told the staff and got '' yes I agree, I tell the chef rare''. I then said return it please and I won't be paying for this and I'll go get some street food and return. No apologies, no second attempt at cooking, no nothing. A table of 30 all drinking and eating racks up some bill which I thought they may have tried at least 1% to please the customers.

Again, don't like complaining and do like the place but this was probably the worst dining experience / service experience I have had in Thailand over...

Usually this place is great, over the 2 years I've been here the food has not disappointed or the beers.

What I have found to be tedious is the staff, I've seen the reviews of others saying the staff are warm and friendly. Usually I don't pay much attention to staff as my Thai friends would order or my "Thai looking" or expat friends would order.

Anyways I went to o'sheas today and before entering asked the staff if I could do a bank transfer. The answer wasn't clear and they wasn't sure so they said no. Then one staff called another from inside to help answer. She came out and said you can do a bank transfer but it has to be over 500 baht and if its under 500 baht you have to pay 20 baht charge.

Now this wouldn't be a problem if the staff were being honest. I got my Thai friends to ask online if the things that the staff told me were true or false. It was all false and furthermore I didn't feel warm or welcomed like the other "white" expats in the joint when being spoken to as I saw.

Overall O'sheas staff dont make you feel welcome. It feels like being at a typical BREXIT type bar where you're looked at as an Alien since your different to the white expats, so the staff clearly have taken to behaving that way.

Edit - owner was very responsive got back to me with a phone call and talked it through. I wish i had a chance to speak to him first hes very understanding and is empathetic unlike some others. this is an updated review on May 16th 2021. unfortunately I had to be quarantined in a local Bangkok hospital because of covet 19... some friends of mine had ordered the Sunday roast delivered to their hospital and I wanted to try a hospital delivery. The food that was delivered was of quality and well-prepared. I have the mix Sunday roast of chicken lamb and roast beef with all of the trimmings. much to my surprise my order showed up hot and plentiful and absolutely delicious. The attention to detail in the packing of the delivery was first class quality. if O'Shea's goes to this trouble to deliver a quality product to a hospital imagine how easy it is to have it delivered to your home? O'Shea's is quickly becoming my delivery go to... for what it's worth I also had hamburgers delivered during the week. again quality burgers served in a very tasty fresh roll and no skimping put O'Shea's on your list for delivery and certainly when the restaurants open back up again for dine-in head there and enjoy their food prepared in their kitchen first hand...
