QUEEN BEE — Restaurant in Khlong Tan Subdistrict

I really love this place. I stumbled across it as it was down the street my hotel. As other reviewers have noted it isn’t as busy as it deserves to be. The food is truly exceptional - my lunch was so good I came back the same night for dinner. It maybe cliched ordering Thai Green Chicken curry, but if it is done well, that is normally a sign of good things to come, and Queen Bee’s version is thoroughly authentic in every way and as good as I’ve ever tasted anywhere. There is indoor and outdoor seating, a comprehensive menu of both Thai and Western foods and a solid drinks list (try the lemongrass soft drink for total refreshment). There is live music which may be a bit intrusive if seated inside trying to enjoy a meal, but the front patio outdoor dining is perfectly fine if you enjoy watching the traffic chaos on the narrow little street. The Grey Goose fairy lit table lamps are a clever and pleasant touch, and there is also both indoor and outdoor bar stools if you just feel like a cold drink. Review: I had dinner here and ordered: • 2 fried mushroom dishes (99 THB each) • 1 main dish (290 THB) • 2 beers (99 THB each)

The correct total was 686 THB. However, the staff first presented a bill for 736 THB, trying to overcharge me. When I questioned this, they made excuses and finally “allowed” me to pay 686 THB as if they were doing me a favor.

This is dishonest and unacceptable behavior. I have attached photos as proof of the real order and their attempt to cheat me.

If you visit this place, check your bill carefully. I will never come back.

This bar is an absolute gem, not to be missed if you are in the area and totally worth the trip even if you aren't. We caught an open mic event which had attracted some phenomenal musicians from all over the world, all playing together in different styles, and who offered to back up my friend and me as we played a mouth harp duet. The crowd was extremely receptive and full of interesting folks, which clearly this bar attracts a lot of.

Great beer and cocktail selection for the discerning drinker at sane prices, and the staff all speak English, are all very attentive and kind, and generally just very helpful (unlike some other Thai wait staff in my experience). This bar is the real deal....just come here if you want to have a good time and don't chance it in some random...
