The place itself is stunning, with amazing views that create the perfect ambiance for a relaxing evening. However, our experience didnât go entirely smoothly.
About 30 minutes after placing our order, we still hadnât received our drinks. We had to remind the staff, and surprisingly, our food arrived before the drinks. Iâm not sure why it took so long for something as simple as drinks, but it was disappointing.
I also have a cowâs milk intolerance, so I asked the staff if my dish contained any dairy products like butter or milk and whether it could be made dairy-free. Unfortunately, they didnât seem to understand what âdairy-freeâ meant and started talking about gluten instead. They said they would ask in the kitchen, which I appreciated.
The waitress later confirmed that there was butter in the rice but assured me they could prepare it without dairy. I was grateful for her effort and happy they were willing to accommodate.
When a different waitress brought our food, since my partner and I had identical dishes, I asked to confirm which one was dairy-free and which one contained butter. Unfortunately, this second waitress didnât understand what dairy-free meant either. Eventually, the original waitress returned, and both of them started inspecting the dishes with a flashlight to figure out which one had butter. I just wanted to make sure they hadnât been mixed up.
It turned into quite a hassle, and I really didnât expect something as simple as requesting a dairy-free meal to be this complicated. While I appreciated their willingness to help, it was clear that terms like âdairy-freeâ arenât well understood, which seems to be a common challenge...
Read moreWanted to like it more, but couldnât. Weâve tried a few dishes and drinks. The ceviche was good, and my favorite of the dishes we tried, but the drinks were a bit of a let down. The views are also quite nice for a rooftop.
The main reason I didnât have a great experience was we were meeting up with another couple, so I booked a table for 4, but we also noticed they have hungry hub specials, so we tried to book something from there to get started. At the door they kind of confronted us and said we couldnât use the special for 4 people. We tried to explain that the deal we booked (a small 2 dishes and 2 drinks special) was just to get started and we expected to order a lot more and have 2 tickets for our group. Well, they refused to let us order a la carte with the deal and we ended up canceling the deal. Not a huge issue, but set a poor tone.
Because the vibe of the place was off, we didnât indulge as much as we were planning to and I donât think I really got to try out the menu as well as Iâd have hoped. Overall, the prices are reasonable, but the serving sizes and ambiance came across as stingy rather than luxurious. With better management this place could be great.
One random extra: They did have a live DJ, but the music was boring and repetitive, so Iâm not sure why they didnât just...
Read moreMojjo Rooftop Bar offers a great spot to unwind, with sweeping views over Bangkokâs skyline â especially stunning at sunset. The atmosphere is stylish yet laid-back, and the menu includes a good selection of drinks and food, with well-made cocktails that complement the rooftop vibe.
That said, we were disappointed to find that the 6â8pm happy hour â still promoted via a link on Mojjoâs own website â is no longer available. Staff told us it hasnât been offered in over two years, which was frustrating, particularly as weâd chosen to stay at the hotel partly because of that advertised perk.
Prices here are definitely on the high side, even compared to other quality cocktail bars in Bangkok â and thatâs before the extra 17% tax and service charge is added.
While the view and ambiance are undeniable draws, itâs worth checking ahead for any up-to-date promotions. If a happy hour is important to you, there are plenty of other options nearby on Sukhumvit 24.
My rating is based on value for money, and poor information, and inability to...
