The Black Swan — Restaurant in Khlong Toei Nuea Subdistrict

Rather than write a negative online review, I initially thought it more helpful send a message to the black Swan via Facebook. No one replied to my feedback so I will post here instead

I visited the pub recently and ordered a cooked breakfast and was disappointed by my overall experience.

It seemed like only one person was working front of house and when I arrived there was no staff to meet and greet or seat me.

Eventually I was seated and made my order. When the food came it had the wrong eggs - fried not scrabbled. Considering the breakfast costs ฿450 I thought I might ask to have the eggs prepared the way I ordered.

When I asked for the correct eggs the waitress greeted this like an inconvenience and looked at me as if she expected me to eat them anyway. When I insisted they be changed she scraped the eggs off the plate and took them away.

I asked if the rest of my meal could be put under the hot lights whilst I waited for the eggs and the rest of the meal was taken away too.

Whilst the food was away my arm began to itch and noticed a small cockroach 🪳 was crawling on me. I shared my experience with the waitress and she simple said: “yes that table has cockroach because that tables has holes”. I asked could be reseated at the bar this request was refused and I was reseated at another table but by this point I was tempted to pay up and leave without eating. Especially after learning I was knowingly seated at a cockroach infested table.

Shortly after the food returned the eggs were freshly cooked but everything was cold or tepid and not very appetising any longer - the bubble and squeak was particularly cold. When I asked for some mustard the waitress barked “wait” at me.

As an expat I’d been craving a cooked breakfast for a while and so was looking forward to trying the Black Swan’s highly recommended breakfast and had made the effort to come to the pub to have the best experience possible.

Unfortunately the whole experience was disappointing. Between the cockroaches and the inattentive waitresses I felt uncomfortable and unwelcome and I would not recommend the Black Swan to friends or family.

Cockroaches aside, I think simply having a few more staff available would have been better for everyone. The waitress was clearly very stressed and I expect she would not have been so surly with a little...

This is my second visit. The atmosphere of the shop is the same as last time and it is very good, but the staff's response was very bad. First, we ordered French fries, and when we ate the next salad, the plate was dirty with ketchup, so when we asked the staff lady to add another plate, she suddenly got angry. She complained and brought plates, but she made a loud noise and put the plate on the table. I was very surprised. Is it rude to ask for extra plates in Thailand? Even after that she continued her attitude which was quite her bad mood. We felt very uncomfortable and regretted that our time was wasted. I was happy to find a pub with a very good atmosphere, so I can't help it. I don't think I will ever...

Update: decided to give the steak here another try and ordered the fillet this time. Asked for medium got it kinda medium well, still tasted pretty good just prefer it a little bit more tender. They gave alot of potato wedges and onion rings again but no ketchup to dip them in, good thing i got lots of packets from other restaurants 😆. Overall the fillet is alot better than the sirloin I got last time and I think I'll order it medium rare next time. ........
