ENGLISH Some time ago I visited with a good Bangkok friend the El Gaucho Bangkok - the "branch" not far from the Grand Mercure ASOKE...right next to Terminal 21. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very inviting and authentic, you felt right at home and almost like in a Argentina steakhouse. The furnishings are very attractive and invite you to linger even beyond the good steak.
The service was professional and courteous from the welcome to the farewell. The staff were always very attentive, but by no means intrusive - and it was immediately obvious that the service staff were also real meat lovers. Of course, this makes the selection and advice on the "right slice of meat" even more enjoyable.
We started this evening with a very tasty carpaccio - but to be more precise with the warm bread, baked garlic, herb butter and a salsa that is always served in advance, which is unparalleled in freshness and taste. The carpaccio was - as it should be - quite simply arranged, the fine meat should be the focus here - it was well tempered and had an excellent taste of its own - a real treat right at the beginning.
We started each with a beer, on the one hand with a Japanese Asahi and on the other hand with a freshly tapped Heineken. Even if the Heineken from the bottle has a good reputation, the freshly tapped one has more than a nose length taste advantage.
In the main course, my company tryed a grilled vegetable skewer and a portion of lamb chops. The lamb was of the highest quality and grilled to the point - it had a lot of roasting aromas and was nevertheless juicy, a real pleasure.
After the consultation and presentation, I had decided for the EL Gaucho Ribeye on the bone (USDA Prime quality) with about one kilo weight and that evening I got one of the best steaks I was allowed to enjoy so far. The Ribeye had exactly the ordered cooking degree, it was finely memorized, soft as butter, grilled sharply on the outside and had a uniquely round taste - a real dream - a big compliment to the "maestro de la barbacoa"!
In addition, I had truffled mashed potatoes, which tasted completely balanced and besides the fine truffle aroma had a great potato taste of its own - this "side dish" was a real highlight itself.
At the end we indulged in a beguiling Crema de Caramelo, a poem of a dessert and in this quality certainly hard to find. In addition, there were crêpes with caramel and vanilla ice cream - a really fitting combination. Especially worth mentioning in the EL Gaucho is the in-house liqueur - a Belvedere Vodka with a pinch of Monin Caramel which - even if it is sweet - doesn't cause any headaches the next day, even if it wasn't just one... It is important that both the mixture and the glasses have to be ice-cooled - this is the only way to make the experience unique! As soon as the vodka "leaves" the tongue, a grandiose caramel aroma unfolds - very tasty and memorable!
The "Butcher Shop" on the lower floor of the EL Gaucho also offers the perfect opportunity to take proper steaks with you for the in-house barbecue - an excellent idea that would certainly also be appreciated in Germany.
As far as I know, an EL Gaucho in Germany, namely in Hamburg, has been opened in the meantime - I would be happy for the Hanseatic city. As I had already visited most of the steak houses there an EL Gaucho would be another highlight for that city.
The El Gaucho in Bangkok was a stroke of luck all along - at first it seems high priced, it is - but for the quality & freshness of the products and the great service this is also justified.
A clear recommendation to visit this restaurant if you nearby - especially if you are a meat lover, but also if you are looking for a nice and innovative bar.
In the meantime, there was also a steamed asparagus mix with freshly planed parmesan, i.e. both white and green asparagus, nicely crunchy and thus an excellent texture as a starter in the Bangkok EL Gaucho - you should definitely try it!

I will try to be detailed and give you recommendations on how to get the best out of your meal. Read the remarks for summary😀
Service (5/5) : As a big restaurant they have something down, the service. The service was immaculate by Bishnu our host. Who was very accommodating and the order was prompt despite us having 20 items to order. He listened to the feedback and the kitchen accommodated in kind.
Drinks (4/5) : The drinks were well made and the house wine (Malbec) was especially good for a dinner. Not too full. Drinks well and pairs well with the red meat. It is a good wine if you are looking for a calm dinner with friends. Docked points for the price of the wine. Must try the caramel vodka from Belvedere to end!
Atmosphere (4/5) : Truth be told we really liked the atmosphere. The ambience and decor was perfect for a classy steak dinner or a sit-down meal with friends. It was lively and overall people seemingly had a great time. However, I docked a point for the simple fact that someone had a birthday and as an Argentinian restaurant one would hope they would incorporate some Latin vibes into the celebration.
Food (2/5) : Great start but a disappointing end! Starting of with the house bread with garlic confit and other condiments was exceptional. Really good to start the evening. Then moving onto the green asparagus soup. The texture was good. The slices of asparagus added a great delight but there was not enough salt in the soup. But overall great. The Burrata with cherry tomatoes was great! Loved the sauce and it is as good as you would expect. That is when it started turning for the worst. They didn't have the proper Chorizo(pork) so the flavour profile of the Provoleta with Chorizo just didn't gel as much. The plate had cooled that the cheese was solid within 5 minutes. Which meant you had hard cheese after that point. The main course was definitely way over priced for the plate served. Spaghetti aglio e olio was not fully al-dente, there was too much parmesan which made it creamy. Unlike how it's supposed to be and the garlic flavour just didn't come across. The truffle tagliatelle was more a mushroom tagliatelle. The very slightest of hints of truffle and for a dish that is 700+ you would expect a generous amount of truffle or truffle flakes to enhance the flavour. The sides were good but again the truffle Mac and cheese were not great. The fries were light and crispy. The spinach was a touch too wet. The garlic mash was great. The sauces were great and especially the blue cheese sauce! Must try! The fillet trio was well cooked, however the desired cook was medium rare and some parts of the fillet were medium and bordering on medium well. Not enough sear and not enough seasoning. The meat cooled down too much too fast. The first bite was slightly too cold. They were definitely not grilled at the same time as the ribeye. The ribeye was exceptional. Personally too much fat in the ribeye than preferred but amazing overall. The temperature was on point and the cook was perfect!
Remarks : It is an overpriced place thankfully their service is on point so it is good to bring clients and for a one time experience. Have the ribeye with blue cheese sauce, Burrata and the bread with garlic confit.
Improve your experience : Order individual cuts of meat rather than the sharing platters for groups and if you are two, cut the meat yourself if it's smaller cuts so that it retains more heat as you eat and have the...
Read moreAn evening at El Gaucho — a refined dining experience just steps from Terminal 21. 🥩✨
What began as a simple business lunch plan evolved into a delightful dinner and catch-up session with a dear friend. We chose El Gaucho Argentinian Steakhouse, and let me just say — it exceeded every expectation.
We each ordered the lamb chops, and I’m not exaggerating when I say they were divine. Perfectly seasoned, beautifully grilled — each bite was tender, succulent, and richly flavorful. My friend went for medium, I chose medium well — and both came out flawlessly. Truly, a celebration of how good meat can be when it’s handled with precision and respect. 🐑🔥
To accompany, we selected the sautéed mushrooms, earthy and elegant, and a refreshing avocado salad to start. But even before our entrées arrived, we were greeted with a stunning board of crispy artisan bread, butter, and a vibrant green chimichurri-style sauce — a small touch, but executed with such flair and flavor, it set the tone for the entire meal. 🥖🧈🌿
To end this elegant meal? Chocolate ice cream, dusted with a delicate sprinkle topping that added just the right texture and sweetness. Cold, creamy, and indulgent — it was the perfect finale to an already unforgettable experience. 🍫✨
The ambience of El Gaucho is exactly what you’d hope for in a world-class steakhouse — dimly lit, warm, richly furnished, with an air of understated luxury.
The air was intimate and luxe — soft lighting, rich wood accents, and that signature steakhouse warmth. The servers were gracious, attentive, and refined in their service. The staff? Impeccable. Friendly, knowledgeable, attentive without hovering. You feel both taken care of and completely at ease.
This place is more than just dinner — it’s a full-bodied experience. Rich, welcoming, and effortlessly sophisticated.
Whether you’re meeting a friend, sealing a deal, or simply indulging in an exceptional meal, this is the kind of place that makes an ordinary evening feel elevated.
Highly, highly recommended.
