A small hidden gem of a place in Bangkok. Nothing fancy. But everything is satisfying.
We went there for dinner on a Sunday evening after a sunset stroll on the Skywalk in Benjakitti Park. When we got there, there was two other tables of diners and they were already finishing up. Locals eat dinner early on Sunday nights. The restaurant is housed in a bungalow that's part of a compound of govt bldgs. So it's really hidden away from the main road.
The interior is bright and white with wood furniture. Big, long booths dominate the space, but they are perfect for multi-generation families out for a meal. Lighting is provided plain white globes of lights hung from the low ceiling. The usual food pictures hung on the walls, but there is a showpiece of modern abstract art that's very eye catching on one wall. Furniture is mainly wood colored which contrasts well with white walls. There is a set of mid century dinning chairs around one table that's very striking.
Service was very attentive. From opening the door to welcome us to taking orders to serving our food, we felt comfortable and attended to.
Food was billed as Italian. And there was a wide variety - pizza, pasta, bread, steak, etc. We ordered spaghetti Bolognese and sirloin steak. Pasta came out al dente. We were given a choice as to how spicy we want the meat sauce to be. It's always a nice touch to localize the taste, IMHO. The sirloin steak was tender and juicy. Served with western and Thai steak sauces on the side.
Price is moderate and reasonable. Avg price ranged from 150 - 300 ThB.
I would come back to this...

I had the Spaghetti Vongole and beer, and was pleasantly surprised when the server asked if I wanted chili. Saying yes was the right call - the spice added a lovely local touch, making the dish stand out. The value for money is excellent, and the ambience is perfect for those seeking a quiet and relaxed dining experience. The simple decor adds to the charm, making Chef Thanom's a great spot to unwind with delicious Italian cuisine. Will be back to check out the...

Why everything is soaky? We ordered pizza, risotto, and buttered garlic clams. Taste wise, they were okay, however, all dishes were soaky. Baby clams were soaked in butter. Risotto was more like rice porridge. Pizzas were bland, and still, soaky.
Apart from that, the place has clean and clear atmosphere with big spacious tables. Parkings are available, and staffs...
