Railay Family Restaurant — Restaurant in Krabi Province

We went to this restaurant twice. The first night, we had a tuna fish (250 baht) and 3 large shrimp (880 baht!!!!)... and also spring rolls, fried morning glory, one piece of barbecue chicken and a portion of pad Thai. The fish was not good. It was over cooked and quite dry. I can’t believe we paid 880 baht for 3 large shrimp. I have included a photo of the bill in this review to show you. Do not pay 880 baht for 3 large shrimp! the total bill on this first night was 1,470 baht!

The good thing about this restaurant was everything apart from the fish. The chicken was really delicious. The second time we visited this restaurant we ordered laab, 2 pieces of chicken (again, amazing!), rice, Thai fried broccoli and deep fried shrimp. The bill was less than half what we paid the night before (650 baht) and the meal was much more satisfying and delicious.

Here is what you need to do... think about this restaurant as a barbecue chicken restaurant with quite tasty Thai food options. If you want to try the fish then be very careful to get the price first. There is no way that 3 over cooked shrimp should have cost 880 baht and the tuna was definitely over cooked and dry. I went two times. First one everything was ok, nothing extraordinary, but nothing bad to say about the food. Today I tried the second time. I order springroll and a pad Thai. When pad Thai arrives I see it looks very weird. I try one squid piece, and it was half cold half hot... No flavour at all. The pad Thai was a mass of noodles all sticked together and a suspicious liquid on the bottom. Straight away I know this dish was reheated from who knows where and I don't try any other bite. I am in fact hoping not to get sick for that piece of squid that I ate and that who know who's else's plate it has been.... I return the dish straight away, a woman tries to convince me that they cook every meal one by one... She maybe thought it was the first time I see or taste a pad Thai... About the spring roll, at least it was cooked, but all there was inside was glass noodles and small pieces of carrot.... So that was mi dinner ... Glass noodles rolled in pastry and fried.... I feel very bad and disappointed as I came back because the first time was not a bad experience and I trusted them... But today I am very disappointed... Trying to trick me was a very dishonest and bad...

I am not sure Meow and Page are remember me or they gonna watch this review but I really want to say their hospitality and kindness was touched deepest part of my heart, their welcoming vibes and Meow’s invitation for me to beach soccer, and while playing football I got injured which blisters (I explained this to Page ‘skin peeled off’)so I limped a bit and Page was took care of me so nice, she helped me to wash off dirts, and bring me a scissors for cut off skin, and while that moment she keep trying to talk with me and that memories she gaves me will be gone long last time, I mean it. After that I rested at my hotel and I try to see Meow and Page to say thanks. Well I met Meow but I couldn’t meet Page. Only if she saw this review I was really happy for having conversations and precious memories. I am really expecting the moment that see you once again. your friend, Gwang from Korea
