Tucked beside the shimmering pool deck and just upstairs from the grand marble staircase that anchors Park Hyatt’s sleek lobby, Embassy Room – La Marina is where mornings begin with quiet elegance and afternoons unfold into vibrant Southern Italian flair. I got to enjoy both — starting with a luxurious breakfast as a hotel guest, and then returning for their standout Social Set Lunch.
BREAKFAST: The vibe was serene, bright, and effortlessly refined. The semi-buffet setup included a spread of chilled items — think freshly baked viennoiserie, tropical fruit, cold cuts, and yogurts — but what truly impressed was the à la carte selection. Made-to-order dishes covered both Thai and international comforts, and they absolutely delivered.
The Pad Kra Pao (Thai basil chicken) was honestly one of the best I’ve had in any hotel breakfast setting — bold, savory, perfectly spiced, and authentically done. On the Western side, there were eggs any style, smashed avo, and even indulgent sweet options. The views of the pool just beyond the glass walls added a tranquil, almost resort-like energy, elevated by soaring ceilings and beautifully styled seating areas. A very Bangkok-meets-Riviera kind of breakfast — polished but never stuffy.
LUNCH: Later that day, I returned for the La Marina Social Lunch — a Southern Italian seafood-centric journey through the sun-drenched flavors of Puglia, Campania, Calabria, Sicily, and Sardinia. The ambiance shifted from breezy breakfast to a more Mediterranean bistro mood: relaxed, sophisticated, and gently buzzing with conversation.
The Social Lunch format was perfect — generous sharing starters, choice of main, and optional dessert, all with mineral water included.
We began with warm, pillowy focaccia served alongside whipped ricotta, balsamic, and herb oil — an ideal welcome. The Insalata dell’orto was light and textured, with shavings of Parmigiano, pops of pomegranate, and pistachio crunch. The amberjack carpaccio was citrusy and fresh, and the zuppa di pesce, a Sicilian seafood stew, came piping hot and brimming with shellfish, tomato, and aromatic herbs — comforting yet elegant. The fried calamari were textbook perfect: light, crisp, and not the least bit greasy.
For our Secondi, we chose the Spaghetti AOP and the Orata ai Carboni (grilled seabream). The pasta was beautifully al dente — deceptively simple but full of garlicky, chili oil richness. The seabream was the real showstopper though — grilled over charcoal, served with asparagus, broad beans, and capers. It was light but deeply flavorful, smoky and bright all at once.
Even though dessert was technically optional, we went for both (because… balance). The classic tiramisu was silky and indulgent, while the homemade sorbetti — including a standout passionfruit — offered a refreshing finish.
Embassy Room – La Marina is that rare hotel dining space that nails both form and flavor, morning and midday. Whether you're poolside at sunrise or sipping Sicilian stew under midday sunbeams, it feels like a slow escape to the Mediterranean — with Bangkok’s skyline just out the window. The atmosphere is stunning, the service warm, and the food layered, generous, and thoughtful.
It’s the kind of spot you want to return to — whether for another breezy breakfast before the pool, or to slowly eat your way through Southern Italy, one...
Read moreLet’s start with the positives. It’s a lovely space and the staff are friendly and attentive.
We had the crudités which were served on a bed of fake dirt which unfortunately had the taste and texture of real dirt.
The vegetarian burger was just a few slices of aubergine in a bun. I mean. Come on. You can try a bit harder than that surely?
The chicken club, normally a winner and a pretty easy sandwich to get right, was probably the worst chicken sandwich I have ever eaten. The bread was cheap and limp, the bacon had been cooked in a furnace and had essentially turned into a bacon bricket.
Then the chicken. Where was it? There was so little actual chicken in this sandwich that I initially thought the chef had forgotten to put it in.
I would have much rather given this feedback directly to the management during the meal however someone else was paying - thankfully as it’s not cheap - but wasn’t able to.
Honestly I would not recommend eating...
Read moreHad an exceptional dining experience at the Italian restaurant last night. The ambiance strikes the perfect balance between elegance and warmth, with stunning views of the Bangkok skyline creating a romantic backdrop for our anniversary dinner.
The food was outstanding .The wine list offered excellent Italian selections.
What truly elevated our evening, however, was the impeccable service, particularly from our waiter Joi. His attention to detail was remarkable. His warm personality and professional demeanor made us feel like valued guests rather than just another table.
The restaurant itself maintains the Park Hyatt's high standards, but Joi's service transformed what would have been a lovely meal into a truly memorable evening. We'll definitely be returning on our next visit to Bangkok.
Highly recommended for special occasions or when you want authentic Italian cuisine with...
