Nara is one of the best Bangkok Thai restaurants for many reasons. I visited her Central Embassy branch. She was very contemporary grand at first sight. The decoration was in dark tone but very well lighted to be glamorous. The people (guests and waiters) looked very neat and decent. This matching “package” cheered me up. (I have no problem with tank tops and sandals, but there is always a higher possibility that they go together with mismatching customers for a nice restaurant as this one.)

Tables and chairs were of very friendly sizes that I was comfortably seated. I saw other big tables which were making very cozy family gatherings. The food was wonderful. I can still remember the smell and taste of her signature dishes. My most favourite ones are the curry crab and chicken wings. I would recommend the plain coconut rice, too. They have shown the unique magic of Thai herbs, seasoning and cooking. It was a pity that I was too full for her coconut ice cream which was also highly praised, but this will be my target for next time. Finally, the bill was very reasonable for a high quality meal in a nice place.

I reckon Nara is a Thai restaurant you shall not miss in Bangkok, especially when you like strong...

Nara Thai Cuisine at Central Embassy deserves a full 5-star rating for delivering an exceptional dining experience across all aspects of service and cuisine. The food quality is outstanding, with dishes that showcase the best of Thai cuisine. The service has dropped significantly. I would say, their ervice has gone downhill

With the price of the food, I did not expect below-average service.

It used to have excellent service with very attentive staff, but not anymore. If you’re expecting somewhere nice, go somewhere else.

The price is over 1,000 baht per person, and drinking water is only free for the initial welcome drink. After that, refills are charged at 45 baht. We had already paid over 1,000 baht per person, yet still had to ask for water refills, they didn’t even offer when it was obvious our glasses were empty. I don’t mind paying the extra 45 baht, but the servers should at least ask if we want more when the water is less than half a glass.

To make matters worse, we waited over half an hour for our dessert, which is extremely odd and disappointing for a restaurant at this level.

The only positive was the quiet atmosphere, thanks to its location in...

I read some online reviews and recommended it to my friends when we traveled to Bangkok, it was a great embarrassment that the Nara was so so bad in terms of food, service and environment! I did not expect a restaurant inside a shopping mall would allow flies - many flies in the dining area, and dare not imagining the condition in the kitchen! The service in Nara was among the worst in Bangkok, perhaps we were unlucky that they first missed our reservation, then placed us in a barely air-conditioned area, and the waiting staffs were so inattentive. At the end, some dishes we ordered went missing but the heat and flies stopped us from staying longer; in fact, it did not worth spending the holiday time waiting for food not as good as what I could get in a Thai restaurant in Hong Kong.

This restaurant is located on the 5th floor of a fancy shopping mall that has luxury designer stores in it. Decided to eat for my first night in Bangkok, before braving straight food. As a vegetarian, it’s tricky to find good street food in Bangkok. I saw from previous menus that this restaurant had a menu with veggie options highlighted but they actually have a whole veggie menu which you can ask for. I had the satay tofu, pad Thai and aubergine and tofu stir fry. They were all delicious- the two dips with the satay were especially yummy. Service was great, and very reasonably priced. Well worth a visit. (They seem to have multiple branches across the city and Asia).
