F&B industry has to be the most challenging industry especially in a competitive environment. The need to satisfy the unique taste palette of individuals, service level, pricing and ambiance experience.
My husband and I operates a catering business in Australia. We offer many Thai and Malaysian dishes for parties and events. We often travel to Thailand and Malaysia for R& D purposes as well as a quick getaway for a foodie trip. We arrived Phuket yesterday.
We dined in at Thai Food Factory on our first day here in Phuket. Our benchmark for a good Thai food always starts with Thai Milk tea and/or Phad Thai. We ordered both at TFF. Many Thai dishes are overly sweet (too much white and palm sugar). For us, a good Thai food must be balance - the flavour, the creaminess, saltiness, sourness and heat/spicy level.
Upon the first sip of the Thai Milk tea, we knew we would not be dissapointed by the other dishes we’ve ordered. The tea flavour, sweetness and creaminess was just the right balance. We also like the Panaeng Curry at Thai Food Factory (TFF) - it was very well balanced- not overly creamy. Many restaurants add way too much coconut cream, thus making it too “heavy” (creamy). The only thing I found was limited Thai dishes choices (maybe because I was expecting more variety 😁😅).
The service was friendly, quick and the staff was attentive. The ambiance is pleasant and clean.
Pricing is subjective. For us, dining at TFF is value for money based on the quality of the ingredients and the experience we got. You will always find customers complaining about the portion size and how expensive (within reasons) the food is. They are never your customers to begin with.
I am a believer that you get what you pay. You cannot please everyone but the most important thing is be good at what you do, don’t alter the recipe to suit the Western palette (because many well travelled Westerners in Thailand have better taste buds than Asians). Be consistent in what you deliver and you will always have customers raving about the food at Thai Food Factory.
The question I ask anyone that gives a review including ourselves - Will you recommend and be back - for us...
Read moreFirstly, when we came in, very poor attitude in attending us to our seats. When ordering, waitress gave us the black face and looked very annoyed at us. Secondly, when my friend asked for food recommendation, whether pork or chicken was nicer, the same waitress gave us a smirk and said very fiercely “SAME SAME”. Thirdly, one mere fried rice took more than half an hour to come, and when we asked for updates, still the same waitress frowned at us and told us off that ‘still cooking’ after what felt like a decade. And all the other dishes were served already so my friend had nothing to eat. Furthermore, when the fried rice was served, there was a wholeass 2 cm STAPLE BULLET found in the egg in the fried rice. SO dangerous! What if someone swallowed it and it damaged their organs? Even after we called for the waitress to attend to the issue, all she replied was ‘hmmm okay yes’ and showed no signs of rectifying the problem. Although they did strike off the fried rice bill, it was still an unpleasant experience. Lastly, when we were paying for the bill, the waitress brought the card machines to us to pay but we were in the middle of very important business and did not notice her arrival. Upon waiting for less than 10 seconds, the same waitress, looked at us and went ‘Hello?’ in a very displeasing tone. It made us feel very uncomfortable.
We really hope the restaurant can train their staff better, not only in their service but also crisis management. Not coming to this eatery ever again, but we wish future customers a better...
Read moreShort: Warm & hospitable staff makes up for mediocre-at-best food.
The staff is very welcoming and helpful! Service with a smile and all the gestures you’d expect. The food came very quickly, even faster than the 5 chicken nuggets we ordered for our kid. I’ll come back to that. My wife had the seafood platter, I had the chicken skewers with satay sauce and the stir fry with chicken and cashews. The presentation was really nice. The skewers were too salty and over cooked. The rice was good and the stir fry was a bit too salty for my taste. We also had a standard tomato-mozzarella salad that was fine. I guess the speed was the reason the prawns were on the edge of under cooked. The squid was…well… a but tough. The waitress saw my wife struggle and came back with a chef’s knife. Our kid loved the skewers and nuggets. The bill came to about 2200Bht. Not really reflective of the mediocre food. The watermelon “smoothie” was really nice. Please stop adjusting the wonderful Thai cuisine to...
