I’ve added edits below as I felt the reply from the restaurant did not reflect the nature of our concerns. Our concerns were with honesty and quality, not with price first and foremost. We did not feel we had good service - I genuinely do not like to leave negative reviews, but I found our experience here very disingenuous and upsetting.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have a great experience. We ordered an alcoholic beverage for 230 baht, and there was minimal alcohol (definitely less than one standard shot) - we had thought they had given us the non alcoholic version by mistake, but the server said it was already “very strong.” Edit: ‘the issue was the very poor quality of the alcoholic beverage, not the price.’
The food portions were very small, and typically we are not big eaters. We requested low salt, and the food was still very salty and oily.
Finally, we were offered a 10% discount at the door, and this was not added to the bill until we asked for an amendment. For one drink, one seafood noodle dish, and one vegetable dish, the pre-discount price was over 700 baht.
On a positive note, it was a cute restaurant with nice and fun decor, and the staff were very friendly. Edit: ‘friendly service did not equate to good service, as there were issues as described above.’ However, we would not recommend ordering thai food here amidst numerous...
Read moreI found this restaurant on Google Maps with a high rating, so I decided to give it a try. The menu was diverse, which was a plus, but I opted for local Thai dishes, expecting an authentic experience.
Atmosphere: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
The ambiance was decent—nothing extraordinary but comfortable enough.
Menu Selection: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
A wide variety of dishes to choose from, including local Thai favorites.
Service: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
The staff was friendly and attentive, which I appreciated.
Food: ⭐☆☆☆☆ (1/5)
This is where things completely fell apart. I ordered a mix of stir-fried vegetables, Pad Thai, and Pad See Ew. Shockingly, in Thailand, they managed to mess up Thai food. The stir-fried vegetables had undercooked baby corn, and overall, the flavors were bland and unbalanced. The Pad Thai and Pad See Ew were forgettable at best.
On top of that, the food took over 20 minutes to arrive, despite the restaurant not being busy.
Overall Experience:
After spending six days in Phuket and four in Chiang Mai, this was, hands down, the worst Thai food I had in Thailand. I was really hoping to like this place, but I can’t understand the glowing reviews—it just didn’t live up to the hype.
Would I return?...
Read moreMy visit to WHY NOT Restaurant in Jungceylon Shopping Centre, Phuket was a delightful experience. The unique and cozy ambience, coupled with excellent and hospitable service, created a warm atmosphere. The staff's constant smiles and friendliness added to the positive vibe. The menu, primarily offering Western cuisine, impressed with delicious dishes and generous portions. The cold beverages provided a refreshing touch, especially in the humid weather. The family-friendly environment and cleanliness further enhanced our dining experience. The presence of a well-organized bar serving a variety of cocktails and alcoholic drinks added to the overall appeal. While prices were relatively high, the quality of the experience made it worth every penny. WHY NOT Restaurant is a highly recommended dining destination in Phuket for those seeking a memorable and...
