A Hidden Culinary Treasure in Old Phuket Town
Lao Pa Sat is truly a gem nestled in the charming heart of Old Phuket Town—a rare sanctuary of cool comfort amid Thailand’s tropical heat. The moment you step inside, the refreshing ambiance welcomes you, offering a serene and air-conditioned haven that sets the perfect tone for a leisurely meal.
The menu is a delightful celebration of Southeast Asian flavors. While it features local Thai specialties, what truly sets it apart is its exceptional offering of Singaporean hawker classics—each prepared with remarkable authenticity and care. Signature dishes like laksa, Hokkien prawn noodles, and nasi lemak are standouts, with the nasi lemak deserving particular praise. Fragrant, perfectly cooked rice is paired with an exquisite array of toppings—from crispy chicken wings and golden omelet wedges to freshly fried fish and their house-made sambal chili, rich and balanced with just the right amount of heat. It’s no exaggeration to say that this version of nasi lemak rivals Michelin-starred renditions.
What elevates the experience even further is the warmth and hospitality of the owners and their staff. Genuinely friendly and approachable, they go out of their way to ensure every guest feels welcomed, relaxed, and well cared for—transforming a simple meal into a heartwarming experience.
As someone who frequently travels to Phuket, Lao Pa Sat has quickly become my go-to spot. For fellow Singaporeans missing the comforts of home, especially a robust cup of kopi-o or smooth kopi-C, this is the place to satisfy that craving. Their aromatic brews are the real deal—bold, flavorful, and utterly nostalgic.

Read moreBeen here two times so far and both experiences were excellent. Incredibly fast service and the food was excellent. The pork pad thai was possibly the best I've ever had in all my life. I ordered the fried prawns twice and both times they were perfectly crispy and done and the sambal sauce that comes with it is bursting with flavor and has a good heat to it. The crispy pork was full of flavor as well, the rice perfectly cooked, and the clear soup that accompanied the dish was great. My only complaint about the crispy pork was that it wasn't hot when it came out, but I understand that most crispy pork is pre-cooked earlier and then heated up before serving and in order to not overcook the meat they are careful with reheating too much, but it would be nice to have it just a bit warmer. The Thai tea was also excellent, great flavor and not super sweet so it was pleasant to sip or gulp.
The price point is great for what you get. It's very nice to have a restaurant that doesn't price gouge...
Read moreBeautiful cafe that sells Singaporean cuisine in it's a must try! Nice vibes and a beautiful counter. They have seasonal dishes as well as their bestsellers.
the Toast with coconut jam tasted really homemade but it wasn't the roasted coconut jam with egg. The toast is not as good and is just another variant of the iconic colonial breakfast item in Singapore.
As a Singaporean, their laksa (spicy seafood coconut gravy with rice noodles) was exceptional. It comes with the very much needed laksa leaves that adds a familiar aroma. The blood cockles, which were the iconic seafood item in a laksa, was fresh and really yummy with the broth. The gravy could absolutely be thicker so it would stick onto the noodles. And it could use a hard boiled egg. But the dish was very accurate in terms of the iconic taste. Very yummy !
I wished I ordered the char kway teow!
They don't charge taxes and they take card payment. Highly recommended, this place is visited by both locals...
