"Authentic Local Flavor and Exceptional Value"
During our stay at the Marriott Courtyard over the New Year, we had the pleasure of stumbling upon 1000009 Thai Noodle Restaurant. Despite the long lines we witnessed on our way into town for three consecutive days, we finally secured a table on the fourth day. The rustic charm of the open front restaurant, alongside the bustling mix of mainly tourists, created an inviting atmosphere.
The absence of air conditioning and the simplicity of the seating and decor didn't detract from the experience; if anything, it added to the authenticity and charm of the place. The small kitchen team worked tirelessly, while the chef/owner's French husband managed the front of the house efficiently.
We indulged in an array of soups, noodle dishes, satay, and the delightful pork skin crackers. The flavors were vibrant, and the option to customize our dishes with an assortment of peppers and condiments added an extra layer of enjoyment. Our meal culminated in a delightful French-style crepe.
The menu may be limited, but the local dishes are prepared with care, featuring fresh, flavorful ingredients. What's more, the outstanding value became evident when our bill for a more than generous meal, including a delectable dessert and refreshing soft drinks, amounted to a mere 389 baht for two (around 10 USD).
1000009 Thai Noodle Restaurant is a testament to the fact that exceptional dining experiences don't always come with a hefty price tag. We highly recommend this gem for anyone seeking authentic local flavor and outstanding value in...
Read moreI had the Stewed Pork Meatballs Noodles Soup, with the Boat Noodles Soup and White Rice Noodles, with a large portion of 60 baht. The larger portion is quite filling, so you might want small or medium if your appetite is small.
I have eaten boat noodles soup in few places in Thailand, and I found this combination of Stewed Pork and White Rice Noodles to be the most suitable for Boat Noodles Soup.
The Boat Noodles Soup base is nicely done, thick with the pork blood, flavored with the Thai Basil Leaves. It also has some beansprouts and water spinach pieces that adds to the crunch.
The stewed pork (braised pork) is nicely done, soft and flavorful. Note that there might be some pork offals mixed in it.
It comes without spiciness. Though, I recommmend adding a bit of the chili flakes for a more authentic flavor, if you can handle some spiciness.
The atmosphere is great, comfortable, plenty of ventilations when eating a hot bowl of noodles soup. Clean and tidy.
The service is great as well, the owner can speak English well, and can also guide you through the combinations if you need help making the choice.
Highly recommend it and will be back to try other...
Read moreI gave this noodles joint a try because of its high ratings, but as an Asian growing up and still living on noodles on daily basis, the dishes here are average at best. We ordered 3 different dishes and none stood out or jumped out at me. There are flavors but they don't seem to go well together,l. You can tell immediately when a dish is delicious within the first couple seconds of the first bite, and the 3 dishes we can ordered offer that wow factor.
A couoley things stood out. The place is packed, but 100% of the diners are non Asian foreigners. Safe to say the reviews are written by them too. Can't trust non Asian thoughts about noodles.
The place is extremely hot and stuffy from all the big broth pots, no AC. They try to compensate for it with tons of fans but it kinda backfires cuz all the fans do is blow hot air around. Even if the food is Michelin quality the hot unpleasant environment would take away from the dining experience.
As I was watching my 1 year old daughter outside after eating, I notice so many locals eating at a rice joint a couple doors down, there's actually a line. I looked up Google ratings for that place...
