Quite a funky place, fully vegan too. The bohemian layout was confusing at first, but I appreciate the oddness, "it really captures the old town vibe". The counter is outside and there seemed to only be a couple menus total available, but inside the dining area there are many next to the door. Although just looking through the menu, you can tell that the food here is going to be good.
I can see why the vegan table beyond burger was 2021 veggie best. I have tried a lot of these specifically award winning burgers and it does rate. Even though the whole beyond thing lacks originality, this burger does it well. Even the sweet potato fries that came with it, as well as the salad were done amazingly, and not too many which I appreciate, highly recommend
The spicy black bean quesadillas although not looking like much, were phenomenal, highly recommend. I'm not sure if it's the hummus, cashew cheese, sneaky potato or the spinach tortillas that make it this good
The strawberry cheesecake was very... Original, or even sweet. I've had a lot of vegan cheesecakes, and while I wouldn't consider this a winning recipe, it's enjoyable. If you have been vegan for a while like me, and have tried, dare I say too many things, give this a go for the new experience.
The pizza bases here are good, the toppings on the beyond meatball pizza were all exceptional bar none, grim the sauce, to the cheese to the jalapenos. Highly recommend.
The salads sauces were quite nice, though I feel there wasn't enough of it. Pretty good considering quinoa was the base, hard to make it make it taste great
The apple crumble is my favourite dessert so far, it was like eating apple crumble for the first time. Highly recommend
The staff seemed to understand English really well and we're even able to make some recommendations. Very friendly too, use the hose if you need to wash your hands, someone will help you 😅
They have some chilled and frozen food available here (shown in the video) of various sauces, pickles, kombucha, patties, pies hummus, buns, pizza bases etc
I might return. Although hosay bowl was fantastic, this has to be my favourite experience in...
Read moreVery tasty, and I liked that the portions aren't too huge (in hot weather, I feel like my stomach capacity shrinks a couple notches) but I'd say it's on the pricier end of the spectrum for breakfast options for Phuket Town. The pesto that comes with the avocado toast is divine, I only wish it'd been more present in the dish, instead of just a decorative drizzle on the side. I was puzzled that when I ordered fresh watermelon juice, I expected just, you know, watermelon juice, but instead watched as the cook put chunks of watermelon in a blender with water and sugar. Anywhere else in Thailand, yes, I know they sugar up the drinks, (god knows why, cuz watermelon is already so sweet), but when we were ordering, the owner made a point of assuring us that everything was so natural and healthy, and also made a point of asking my partner (who ordered a latte) if he wanted sugar in it. They kindly made me a new one without sugar, but it just seemed out of keeping with the premise of the place, if that makes sense, and I was confused as to why I hadn't been given the same option as my partner. Plus, I felt bad about them having to waste perfectly good watermelon on the first version of the drink. Overall, not a deal-breaker, but given that the owner seems very conscientious about reading the reviews, I figured I'd offer the feedback (as well as a heads-up for others like me who prefer their juices unadulterated, and can make sure to order accordingly).
I would also like to offer personal thanks to the owner for gracefully checking to see if we were "ok" when the guy sitting at the table next to us engaged us in a not-entirely-consensual, not-entirely-friendly discussion about politics. We managed to extricate ourselves on our own, but it made me feel very cared for that the owner asked. (I dunno, maybe he was just asking if our meal was ok, but at the time it seemed like he meant more than that, and I...
Read moreI went out of my way to eat here (it's about 7 miles from my hotel) and would probably not come back. There's an outside stand and a proper indoor restaurant right next to it. I ordered outside then went to sit myself indoors. Service: There was an older man who showed up out of nowhere bc there weren't any workers there when I arrived. He seemed to not know the proper decorum for being a server and probably shouldn't assist non Thai speaking customers. He would hover around the customer while they were looking over the menu and got an order wrong while I was there. He also didn't bring out utensils with my last order and didn't understand English so when I called it to him, he didn't respond even though he was just hovering over another table for their order. I had to get up to get utensils on my own.
Food quality: I ordered the lasagna and pancakes which were both ok. They haven't mastered the art of making vegan cheese, so the lasagna sauce had an interesting texture but the flavor was ok. The pancakes texture was stiff and not fluffy. They were more like poorly made crepes than pancakes. The servings are small and I was still hungry so I ordered some garlic bread which was over baked, greasy, and lacked flavor. The only thing that was really good was the lime soda.
Price: They charge a 10% service fee and 7% VAT fee. Everything came out to just under 1000 bahts which is on the expensive side for Thailand. I wouldn't mind paying this for a more...
