I wouldn’t stay here ever again. Ruined my trip, be careful. We stayed here for 3 nights. The location was great, right in the heart of Old Town, however, on the 2nd day, I had woken up and pulled out 500€ from the safe and kept it in the backpack I was going to take around the town after my massage. However, a hour later, once I come back from my massage, I search my bag for the money but it was not there and the room had been cleaned by house keeping and the staff had left from work. My wife and I frantically search through the entire room, both of our bags, wallets, suitcases but were not able locate the money. I went downstairs and told the front desk of the situation and I said to please help me locate it and contact the housekeeping staff who had cleaned my room. They tried calling her but she was not picking up their call. The front desk tried to assure me that the staff had not taken the money as they search their bags before they leave the hotel but there are multiple areas someone can hide a single 500€ note. I hey were of no help and said their staff wouldn’t do something of the sort. I held off on writing this review until I was able to unpack my suitcase and check every single pocket from my clothes, to my bag pack, to my carry-on to my suitcase and completely see if I may have misplaced the money and kept it somewhere else but I didn’t. It was very clear that my bag had been opened and someone had ruffled through my stuff. 500€ is a lot of money and warrants me writing this negative review. Ruined my...
Read moreExcellent location, opulent Portuguese decor and bonus of a small pool to dip into after the hot day sun. Yes the front facing rooms are noisy but you’re in a vibrant town and if all quite a down by 11pm, bring your ear plugs ( or reception provide them too).|The lively bar/ restaurant across the road is the main reason for the noise but we actually enjoyed the music and sat on the balcony to listen to:)|We ate in Day & Night which is a few minutes walk away and would recommend- one of our best meals so far|We didn’t have breakfast- lots of options locally |I picked this for the access to the Walking market and wasn’t disappointed! The market is fabulous but super hot and busy so we didn’t it in two halves; we were so close we could come back to the room for some cool and our feet up for a bit then headed back out again! Best market I’ve ever been and we ate our way around the various food stalls.|If it’s useful a taxi from the ferry pier is about 400 thb ( grab) but then from the town to Kata around 580 thb and that’s a good half an hour so seems the ferry pick up is city prices. I loved the old town so much to do and spoilt for choice for restaurants. Staff at the Casa blanca were very professional and helpful. The bed was super comfortable and...
